๐ŸŒŸ I donโ€™t usually post reviews on hereโ€ฆ but this one really stood out and I think everyone should read it. It beautifully sums up not just what we offer, but why we do what we do.

๐Ÿ’ฌ This client took the time to write such an honest and insightful review after visiting us for the first time โ€” and weโ€™re so grateful.

If youโ€™ve ever been curious about floating, or wondered if itโ€™s worth tryingโ€ฆ have a read of this ๐Ÿ‘‡

"A truly relaxing experience with great staff and facilities
Went to Float Space for the first time after getting a Father's Day gift of a 1 hour float session. I only discovered float space recently after stumbling across them on Google and physically having a walk round Thorne to find the place (I live some distance away, but have relatives nearby).

I'm a veteran of sensory deprivation therapy (floating), as I've used it for nearly 20 years as a means of 'rebooting' and keeping my stress levels firmly in check, and probably have nearly 40 floats under my belt at a variety of venues across Yorkshire.

On arriving at Float Space, I was given a warm welcome and immediately taken on a tour of the facilities and what to expect. This tour finished in the float room which is where my session would take place. The staff were understanding of my past experience, so didn't spend long trying to explain stuff that I would have already known which was great.

The facilities were spotlessly clean and pleasant. For the float session, earplugs, a towel, shampoo, body wash, and some petroleum jelly (to cover any sores) were all provided. Despite all my previous floats, I hadn't used this model of tank before, but the staff member made sure I was completely happy with how it worked and the various features. After asking if I had any questions, she left the room and the session began.

The session was probably more relaxing than I expected. Some of the other venues I've floated at before, still expose you to sound in the pod such as footsteps, creaking / closing doors, or conversations. At Float Space there was nothing but absolute silence which is key to a great float session.

After returning to reality, I was able to relax and chill out in the Moon Room, which is a lovely space.

I would definitely recommend this place to anyone, whether you're seasoned in float therapy, or a first-timer.

As a person who has done this many times in the past, I will definitely offer a piece of advice to first timers. Flotation therapy is a progressive thing; the first time you try it, it's amazing, you won't believe how much it relaxes you, and there's certainly nothing at all to be worried about. However, it gets better each time you do it, because each subsequent time you aren't thinking about what's going to happen."

๐Ÿ“ If youโ€™d like to experience it for yourself, weโ€™re always happy to talk you through it, whether itโ€™s your first time or your fiftieth.

A TIMELESS MOMENT OF TRANSCENDENCE THAT LED ME TO HEALING

Following the publication in 1974 of my first book, The Link, I realised that my life consisted of endless interviews and radio and TV appearances. Nothing could have prepared me for fame and continual media scrutiny at the age of 19. The broken electrical equipment and television studio malfunctions made great headlines, but gave me no sense of meaningful achievement.

In 1977, I travelled to India for a month of soul-searching. Heading northwest from Delhi I journeyed through the Himachal Pradesh province before climbing into the foothills of the Himalayas. There I spent a night in Narkanda, a small village perched on a mountainside at 9,000 feet. I felt as if I was looking at the top of the world.

I wanted to photograph the sun rising from behind the vast Himalayan mountains so the next day I rose before dawn with my camera. But as I sat, watching the sunrise, I had a transcendent experience that Iโ€™ve always had difficulty in describing.

All sense of time dissolved - I had no idea how long it lasted. I felt as if I had become totally at one with everything around me. I was deeply connected to the mountains and rocks and it was as if they were part of me. I became the air as the air became me. I was part of the trees and they were me.

In those moments of suspended time and transcendence, I probably came as close to God as Iโ€™m ever likely to experience here on Earth. I became aware of what I can only describe as a โ€œPresenceโ€, urging me to follow only paths that would lead to healing. I also had a strong sense that this meant far more than simply working with my hands.

My lifeโ€™s path had in those moments opened up before me.

NEW STUDY SHOWS THAT VIOLENCE AND TRAUMA ALTER GENES FOR GENERATIONS

A new study shows that violence and trauma alter the human genome in ways that persist for generations. Trauma from war can leave chemical marks on a personโ€™s DNA that get passed down to their grandchildren.

Researchers studied Syrian families affected by the 1982 Hama massacre and the civil war that followed.

They compared these families to others who left Syria before the violence began. By collecting DNA from 138 people across 48 families - grandmothers, mothers, and children - they found that people whose grandmothers were pregnant during the Hama siege showed 14 genetic changes likely caused by that trauma.

These changes did not affect the DNA code itself, but added small chemical tags that can change how genes work. This process is called epigenetics.

People who lived through the violence themselves had 21 different genetic markers, and babies exposed to war while still in the womb showed signs of faster biological ageing. The study shows that stress from violence might trigger similar genetic responses across different people and generations.

Scientists are not sure what these changes mean for health, but some past research links similar markers to problems like diabetes and obesity.

The researchers believe this could help explain why cycles of trauma and poverty are so hard to break. This form of genetic stress response might also be common in many situations, including domestic abuse or gun violence.

Despite the findings, the researchers also observed how strong and resilient these families are. Many are raising families and building new lives after everything they have been through.

(The study is published in the journal Scientific Reports.)
