Another great PHTLS course delivered by to norfolk_fire_and_rescue educators 🚒🚨
The 2-day course provided an in-depth recap of essential trauma care skills within their scope of practice, whilst also familiarising them with higher-level procedures they could be asked to assist with in a clinical setting. The training combined engaging lectures with hands-on skill stations covering:
• Catastrophic bleeding management (including tourniquets and haemostatic products) 🩸
• Airway management (including essential airway skills, SALAD and emergency front of neck access) 🗣️
• Breathing management (including oxygenation, needle thoracentesis and finger thoracostomy) 🫁
• Circulation management (including bandaging, EZ-IO, KTD, splinting, and drugs) 🫀
• Disability management (including head and spinal trauma) 🧠
• Exposure management (including targeted temperature management) 🌡️
All of these skills were reinforced through realistic scenarios, including traumatic cardiac arrest and mass casualty triage.
Congratulations to all who are now qualified PHTLS providers! 👏
