Barracuda Swimming Club We are a swimming club for people with disabilities and welcome people of all ages & swimming abilities. We are based in Potters Bar, Hertfordshire, UK.

The Barracuda Swimming Club meets every Sunday 11.30-12.30 at the Furzefield Centre, Potters Bar. The club has exclusive use of the pool and provides a safe environment for disabled people to be able to swim. People of all ages and abilities are welcome - whether you're putting your first toe in the water or are a more serious swimmer. People are also all welcome no matter the severity of physical

or learning disability. Most swimmers will begin working one-to-one with one of our volunteer instructors who will help them develop the skills and confidence needed to become safe and independent swimmers. The Barracuda Swimming Club is affiliated to http://www.halliwick.org.uk/ and teaches according to the Halliwick programme. The club is run on an entirely voluntary basis and is therefore free to attend, save for a very small annual administration fee. If you would like to join the club as a swimmer, or would like to volunteer, please send us a message through Facebook. Registered Charity Number 275663

Halliwick, the organisation Barracudas is a member of, made this video last year showing what it is like for some of our members who use the pool. We hope this helps everyone to understand why swimming is so helpful to people with autism.

The Furzefield Centre has approached us with a proposal to change our time at the pool.

They are suggesting that the club now use the pool from 14:00 till 15:00 on Sundays.

We want to get feedback from all our members & volunteers on how this change might affect you.

Please check your emails for link to a short survey about this. If you are a member of the club but have not received an email please let us know.

Congratulations to our members who received awards at our Annual General Meeting held today at the Furzefield Centre.

Thank you to all our volunteers and returning committee members.

In the chairman's report, we heard how our membership numbers remain strong, club funds remain healthy and fees are staying at £5 per year. We are also updating our club policies which will be published soon.

A special thanks to Marie Scales who is stepping down as treasurer after many years of service. She will remain a valued member of the committee.
