FCMS FCMS provide a wide range of health & well being services on a local, regional & national footprint

FCMS has delivered health and care services on behalf of the NHS since 1994. The fact that we have been able to consistently deliver high quality services in an ever-changing health care environment is due to the hard work, compassion, and authenticity of our people. If you are a patient whether your contact with FCMS is via NHS 111, urgent care, a diagnostic test, a dental appointment, through one of our community outreach services, or via a remote consultation you will always be treated with dignity and respect. We are proud to innovate and we utilise the very latest technology to support clinicians in their day-to-day work. We also take pride in the development of our people and support colleagues to grow in their roles, acquire new skills and obtain recognised qualifications. FCMS is a social enterprise and we are fully committed to reinvesting into staff development and wellbeing, as well as improving patient care and supporting the communities in which we work and live. We’re proud to launch a new pilot service in Blackpool, Fylde and Wyre, supporting people with learning disabilities to take part in the bowel screening FIT test.

Bowel cancer is one of the UK’s most common cancers, but over 90% of people survive when it’s diagnosed early. Sadly, people with learning disabilities are less likely to complete screening - meaning they often miss out on early detection.

This pilot aims to change that by providing individualised support, including easy-read resources, visual aids, British Sign Language videos, and one-to-one guidance.

We’re working closely with carers, families, GP practices, PCNs, social workers, social prescribers and learning disability teams to make bowel screening accessible, inclusive and effective.

We’re excited to share that Morecambe UTC now features a series of colourful paintings in its waiting areas to brighten up visits for patients of all ages.

The paintings include lots of famous landmarks across Morecambe and were designed to be sensory-friendly and calming - especially for neurodiverse patients.

The local artist, Chas Jacobs, said:

🗣️"𝙄’𝙫𝙚 𝙗𝙚𝙚𝙣 𝙖𝙨𝙠𝙚𝙙 𝙤𝙫𝙚𝙧 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙮𝙚𝙖𝙧𝙨 𝙩𝙤 𝙙𝙤 𝙘𝙤𝙡𝙤𝙪𝙧𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙗𝙤𝙤𝙠𝙨 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙖𝙡𝙡 𝙨𝙤𝙧𝙩𝙨, 𝙗𝙪𝙩 𝙄’𝙫𝙚 𝙣𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙧 𝙙𝙤𝙣𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙨, 𝙨𝙤 𝙞𝙩 𝙬𝙖𝙨 𝙖 𝙘𝙝𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙚𝙣𝙜𝙚, 𝙗𝙪𝙩 𝙄’𝙢 𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙮 𝙥𝙡𝙚𝙖𝙨𝙚𝙙 𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙝 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙪𝙡𝙩𝙨.”

A huge thank you to Chas for bringing his creative vision to life, and to Amanda McLean (FCMS Virtual Care Lead) for championing this project.
