Men’s mental health deserves far more space than it often receives. So many carry their struggles quietly, feeling the pressure to cope alone. Silence isn’t strength. Connection is.

Sharing this today because awareness is only the beginning. What truly matters is creating environments where men feel able to speak, be heard, and be supported without judgement.

The landscape of therapeutic practice is shifting, and 2026 will bring new pressures and expectations for practitioners across the field.

Therapists tell us they are navigating a profession that is evolving faster than the structures designed to support it. This is not a reflection of poor practice. It is a reflection of a sector in transition.

Some therapists are working with fuller caseloads and greater emotional demand.
Some are developing their visibility and confidence in a crowded field.
Many continue to invest in extensive training and CPD, yet feel unsure how best to position their work within an evolving professional landscape.

These experiences are being echoed internationally.
Research across the profession shows that therapists often face high emotional demand, limited reflective space and increasing workload pressures, all of which can affect long-term sustainability if not balanced with adequate structure and support (Van Hoy and Rzeszutek, 2022; Delgadillo et al., 2023).

These are not personal shortcomings. They are the natural pressures of a profession adapting to new realities.

Why this matters
When therapists have space, clarity and support, the public receives steadier, safer and more effective care. Practitioner wellbeing and public protection are deeply connected.

NCIP’s role
As we look ahead to 2026, NCIP remains committed to strengthening the frameworks that protect practitioners and the people they serve.
A credible professional home.
A reflective community.
Standards that align with real-world practice.
Support that upholds the long-term sustainability of the profession.

We would value hearing your perspective.

Today our CEO, Emma Garrick, spoke at the PSA Research Conference on a subject our profession can no longer ignore: AI, mental health, and the ethics of emerging dependencies.

The engagement in the room showed how ready the sector is for this conversation. Colleagues across regulation, research, and practice voiced the same concerns we are seeing in real time.

Thank you to the Professional Standards Authority for creating space for this work.

NCIP will continue to lead on safe, ethical, and evidence informed standards as AI evolves and the public seek support in new ways.

We will also be sharing details of a new research project that aims to strengthen national understanding of how the public are already using AI for their mental wellbeing. This will be announced soon.

The future of our profession depends on how we train the next generation.

When you teach future practitioners to think rather than simply follow, you are shaping the kind of professionals the public can trust.

If that is the heart of your training, NCIP is where your work belongs.

If you want to understand exactly how NCIP supports high quality training, professional credibility and PSA alignment, comment “Trainer” and I will send you the prospectus.

Integrity recognised. Progress confirmed.

We’re pleased to share that the Professional Standards Authority (PSA) has published its decision confirming that the National Council of Integrative Psychotherapists (NCIP) has provisionally met Standard One - the first stage in the PSA’s accreditation process.

This outcome means that the PSA recognises NCIP as an organisation acting in the public interest, with the governance, structure, and direction required to progress toward full accreditation.

It’s not the finish line, but it’s a meaningful step.
It reflects the dedication of our members, the care with which they practise, and the integrity that underpins our shared profession.

We’ll continue working carefully toward Standards Two to Nine by January 2026, maintaining the same steady focus that has brought us here.

Every day, we speak to practitioners who have been made to feel like their path isn’t ‘enough’.

Not clinical enough. Not academic enough. Not traditional enough.

But here’s the truth:

✔ Your qualifications are valid.
✔ Your experience is valid.
✔ Your work changes lives.

You are not less than because your training followed a different route.
You are not behind because you didn’t tick someone else’s boxes.

At NCIP, we don’t just recognise diverse pathways - we assess them rigorously and value them deeply.

💡 Our Registrar verifies every qualification.
💡 We ensure ongoing supervision and high professional standards.
💡 We stand for integrative, real-world practice.

Because the world needs skilled therapists.
Not more hoops to jump through.

💙 If you’re ready to feel respected, not restricted - join us.
