The UK and Ireland have seen higher temperatures than expected this January, and as a result there are pollen warnings being issued much earlier than usual. Contrastingly, cold and flu viruses are still seemingly everywhere, as well as COVID-19. 🤧
It can be difficult to know the difference between these conditions. So if you’ve got a blocked nose, headaches, or itchy eyes, and you’re not sure what to do - we’ve put together a table to help you make sense of your symptoms. 👀
Our own Dr. Babak Ashrafi also explains: “The symptoms of flu, cold, COVID-19, hay fever, and even asthma are often similar, but distinctions can still be made. With flu, for example, it is typical that symptoms appear very suddenly. A sore throat that comes on gradually without a fever, on the other hand, is more likely to be a cold. Fever or dry cough with sudden loss of smell and taste are most likely to suggest a COVID-19 infection. Since COVID-19 infections are often mild or completely asymptomatic, only a test can diagnose for certain.”👨⚕️
