Dru Yoga UK

Dru Yoga UK Since 1978 we’ve been sharing our passion for yoga, Meditation, Ayurveda, Health and Well-being!

Transform the world by giving people the tools to transform themselves! Since our birth as a social enterprise over 40 years ago, when a small group of idealistic university students sought to change the world, we have grown into an international community of people creating transformation. We run yoga, meditation and ayurveda training courses online and retreats across the globe.

Have you ever paused to ask, “Am I still on track with what really matters most to me?”I’ve just taken a quiet moment by a river to reflect on this — perhaps you’d like to too. In this short video, I offer a simple way to reconnect with your intuition and check whether your current direction is in alignment with your deeper values and purpose.

There’s something reassuring about sensing you’re heading the right way.And when things feel out of step, that inner unease can gradually build—often beneath the surface.

This video introduces a short practice that helps you:
🌀 Pre-live a goal or choice you’re contemplating
🌀 Notice how it feels in your body and energy
🌀 Let your intuition speak—without pressure

And if it nudges something in you… perhaps the Dru Yoga Teacher Training is a step worth considering.

This course has been fully reimagined for 2025. While many do train to teach, it’s equally a deep personal journey—exploring how to live in harmony with yourself, your inner wisdom, and your purpose.

You’ll learn how to:
🌿 Tune into your intuition—with courage and clarity
🌿 Align your health, relationships and lifestyle with what matters most
🌿 Build emotional resilience and lasting vitality
🌿 Create a steady inner centre you can return to—whatever life bringsMany of our students join simply to reconnect with themselves and find direction—regardless of whether they ever plan to teach.

A kind gesture can reach a wound that only compassion can heal -
Steve Maraboli
Small acts of kindness and thoughtfulness can have a profound effect on others...

A smile or hug, a loving note written on a scrap of paper, a little bunch of wild flowers, a caring voicemail ... these seemingly insignificant gestures not only cheer other people up - they can also bring unexpected comfort to those who are having a struggle of some kind (we often don't know what others are going through).

So practise random acts of kindness as often as possible! They make this world a happier place.

This week’s new moon is known as Hariyali Amavasya—the 'green new moon' , seen in the Indian calendar as a time of inward growth and quiet preparation. In yoga, the new moon encourages us to pause.

It’s not always a time to act, but often a time to listen. What’s shifting beneath the surface?

You could try Child’s Pose or Paschimottanasana, staying with the breath and letting the rhythm of So Hum—I am That—anchor your awareness.

From Dru teachings:

“Stillness is not the absence of movement—it’s the presence of awareness.”

Sometimes doing less allows more to unfold.

Yoga and meditation make up the third Dru Ayurvedic pathway

🧘🏼‍♂️To balance pitta dosha, fight the urge to just keep on going and allow yourself to slow down at this time of year. Invite a sense of luxuriousness into your movements, allowing your body to flow, unled by the mind.

🚶🏼Avoid competitiveness-even with yourself. Instead, move with gentleness and joy, with eyes downcast or even closed.

☀️And if you don't yet have a yoga and meditation practice, summer is the best time to start!

🐢You don't need to spend an hour twisting and stretching on the mat to call it a yoga practice. Just a few minutes a day or mindful movement is all that it takes to make you feel more at home in your body as you move through your day.

🧘🏼‍♂️You also don't need to sit in meditation for a long time to make it worthwhile. If you have a pitta constitution, you probably like a challenge. So here's the challenge:
Slow down. Do less. Sit quietly.

We arrive on this planet empty-handed and we will all soon leave empty-handed.

So then, how and in what spirit do we want to spend the time in between?

— Nimo Patel

Let’s stop rushing and take time to enjoy and be grateful for simple things..

Even though we're still enjoying the warmth of summer, now is the perfect time to look ahead — to the quiet turning of the season.

Autumn brings change. In Ayurveda, it's the start of Vata season - a time when the body and mind benefit from deeper nourishment, routine, and rest.
By planning now, you're giving yourself the gift of time - and the chance to truly prepare for the months ahead.

Our Nourish and Align 2025 Retreat (10-12 October) is a thoughtfully timed opportunity to step away from the noise, reconnect with nature, and reset your inner rhythm.

Set in the heart of Snowdonia National Park.

SUPER EARLY BIRD
• finishes midnight 27 July.

🕉️In the Indian lunar calendar, this week marks the start of Sawan—a month dedicated to Shiva, the still presence at the heart of yogic tradition. Shiva represents transformation, steadiness, and the strength to let go when life invites change.

🌅Each Monday in Sawan is a chance to reflect, chant, or meditate—not out of duty, but as a way to reconnect with what really matters. The first Sawan Somwar falls on 21 July.

🙏🏼You might ask: what’s ready to fall away in your life? What have you outgrown?

📿Chanting Om Namah Shivaya or practising Standing Forward Bend with a long, steady exhale can help create space for inner stillness.

🤲🏼From the Dru Bhagavad Gita:
’By letting go of attachment, the wise person rests in the Self, content in the knowledge that all things rise and fall in time.‘

🏞️We’re always deeply touched to read the feedback from our retreats. Here’s what some of our May retreat participants had to say!

We have just a couple of spaces left for our late August retreat—could Eryri (Snowdonia) be calling you?

‘Coming back here after a six-year break has reignited my love for Dru Yoga teachings. The wild walking, yoga, and meditation retreat in Snowdonia is a must for anyone looking to rejuvenate their mind, body, and spirit.‘
— Jan Arkle

'Come to Dru Yoga at the Snowdonia Mountain Lodge to discover peace, tranquility, and a deep well of knowledge. Experience the innovation of traditional techniques and connect with like-minded people to share thoughts, ideas, and personal journeys.‘
