When I did my ta**ra yoga training with Iris Disse
I asked for a reading list,
wanting, as always, to be a “good student.” 🤓

She said: no.
Read nothing.
Feel everything.
That is ta**ra. ✨

Unlike many spiritual paths that ask you to follow a doctrine, or scripture, or guru,
Ta**ra does not
(well, not in my personal experience anyway).

It simply invites you to try the 112 teachings in Vijnana Bhairava Ta**ra and witness for yourself.

Be your own guru.
It whispers.
Be your own king.
Be your own queen.

I love how the 112 teachings are so quietly confident.

Why so confident?

Because they work:
lying on your yoga mat,
eating a meal,
waiting for the bus,
making love,
in the momentary pause between inhale and exhale.

Ta**ra honours the full spectrum of what it means to be alive in this body:
from ecstasy all the way to despair.

It honours this body as sacred, exactly as it is.

This world as sacred.
Even, and especially, in its brokenness.

Ta**ra isn’t waiting at the end of a long road.

We don’t have to crawl repenting on our knees.

Ta**ra. Is. Right. Here.
In this body. In this moment.

In this beautiful bluebell wood, where I found myself on an extraordinarily ordinary walk today.

One of my latest pieces: sacred geometry shaped around the number 7️⃣

I’ve called it ‘Divine Mystery in Bloom’

For centuries, 7 has quietly unsettled mathematicians and philosophers: a number that resists symmetry, refuses easy division, and rarely reveals itself in nature’s usual patterns.

7 doesn’t play by the usual rules of pattern and proportion…

It is irregular, elusive, untamed.

And yet, here it is.

This seven-petalled form - sometimes called the Soul Flower or the Sofia Flower - symbolises the mystery itself.

Not something to solve, but something to kneel down before.

When I look at it, I’m reminded that when we allow ourselves to meet the mystery herself, something unexpectedly beautiful quietly blooms.

For years, people told me I was teaching ta**ra, long before I had trained in it.

I think that’s because ta**ra isn’t something I “learned” as such.

What they were sensing wasn’t something special about my teaching, but simply a ta***ic resonance or familiarity deep in their bones.

Because ta**ra, in many ways, isn’t about learning something new.

It’s about remembering how to be fully here.

✨That sense of awe and wonder.

✨That feeling of being fully alive to the human experience.

✨That quiet pouring of attention into everything you relate with.

I wonder if we are simply born tantrikas…?

Many traditional yoga paths lean toward a dualistic vision,
where divinity is somewhere above us,
and they teach us to strive upward, transcend, or escape.

But non-dual Śaiva ta**ra turns that idea inside out.

It doesn’t ask us to renounce the world.
It doesn’t ask us to leave anything behind.

Instead, it invites us to recognise
that every ordinary or extraordinary moment
is not an obstacle to awakening
but a direct expression of it.

Everything is divine.
Everything is sacred.
Everything belongs.

At the heart of this tradition is the Vijnana Bhairava Ta**ra:
112 doorways into awakening.

One of my most treasured books is The Radiance Sutras by Lorin Roche:
a poetic translation that doesn’t TELL YOU what to believe or how to move…

These sutras are not a set of instructions, but an invitation.

To pause.
To feel for yourself.
To discover what’s true in your own direct experience. ✨

❤️Shakti on the tongue❤️

Last week, we explored a single word from Verse 3 of the Yukti teachings in Radiance Sutras by Lorin Roche:

SHAKTI

Speaking her slowly, quickly, loudly, softly…
but first, feeling her.

Breathing her up through the spine…
Catching her wave and surfing…
Rolling her around the tongue like a prayer…
Sliding her across the teeth…

Shakti as life-force.

As movement.

As the current of life force energy within us.

Filling ourselves with the creative power of a poet...

The Goddess is breathing in us the breath of life…

The Oxford Dictionary defines “sensuality” as “the enjoyment or expression of physical, particularly sexual, pleasure.”

I disagree.

The word sensuality comes from the Latin ‘sensus’, which means “feeling, sense”.

Originally, it referred simply to our five senses:
Sight. Touch. Taste. Smell. Sound.

But in the fifteenth century, religious culture twisted the meaning, associating sensuality with sin, indulgence, and shameful lust.

And ever since, the word has carried that distortion.

But sensuality is not excess.
Sensuality is not seduction.
Sensuality is not performance for others.
Sensuality is not aesthetic.

Sensuality is the poetry of sensation.

Sensuality is how humans experience being alive.

It is awareness returning to the body.
It is presence through the senses.
It is the willingness to feel life fully, instead of numbing it.

I don’t know how to breathe beautifully without it.
I don’t know how to move without it.
I don’t know how to love without it.
I don’t know how to live without it.

Sensuality is attuning to your sensations, which is the ancient language of the body.

It is noticing how the world touches you back.
You like the sensation of the wind in your hair, and you notice that the wind also likes the sensation of your hair. 🌬️

Sensuality is the art of feeling fully: the pain, the ecstasy, the beauty, the brokenness.

Sensuality is the slow language of skin, presence, and gravity. It is the body listening to texture, temperature, colour, breath, and movement.

It is the moment when experience becomes intimate.

I’ve heard people say that I dance “too sensually.”

After the initial flash of rage that rises in me when I hear this, my response is that…

I respectfully DISAGREE. 💥

Dance IS a sensual activity — for everyone — if you are actually feeling your body through your senses.

How we dance is a reflection of how we do life.

When I dance
I am simply remembering that I am
Alive.
Awake.
Feeling.

When I dance
I am right here
Right now
In this miraculous body
Every moment perfect as it is.

And I will not apologise for moving in a way that feels true and alive to me.

In Contact Improvisation Level 2 training with , we explored play fighting. 🤺🥷

The invitation: attempt to escape two bodies piled on top of you, pinning you to the floor with everything they’ve got.

This exercise felt hugely impactful for me. I felt it change something in me. Somehow. Not sure what exactly.

I don’t think I’ve ever used all the physical strength I possess… not in any way I can remember. 🤷🏻‍♀️

And my God, I felt so strong and alive and ferocious.

My God, we are all so strong and alive and ferocious.

Watching each person in the group meet their own volcanic force was a (bizarrely) intimate and exhilarating experience.

I felt a new reverence for the fire that burns inside me, inside all of us.

Grateful for our flame🔥💪🏼💥

I’ve just emerged from an exquisitely beautiful winter contact improvisation retreat with .eh.parker

Days blurred into nights:
dancing until wee hours,
warm long embraces,
heart-led song and music from a rainbow array of talent,
ritual fire to call in 2026,
slow massages in sauna,
echoes of laughter in every corridor,
and tears of love and trust and joy (after a two hour blindfolded dance).

I took only one photo.

It feels like enough.

On my knees in gratitude. 🤍

For the past 12 years, at winter solstice, I have reflected on the last year (one side of A4 paper), and planted seeds for the future year (other side of A4 paper).

So I have 12 sides summarising the last 12 years of my life and 12 sides manifesting my future-self over 12 years.

I’ve just amended my template ready to reflect by the fire over winter solstice… 🔥🌑

Introducing myself... Hi I'm Sherin.

I have been practising yoga since 2002 and teaching yoga since 2012, and I've completed various trainings and courses, such as:

🌹Ta**ra yoga teacher training at Durga's Tiger School for Ta**ra Yoga in Ecuador (100hrs)
🌹Vinyasa yoga teacher training with Sun Power Yoga in London (200hrs)
🌹Yin yoga teacher training with Ashiyana in India (50hrs)
🌹Rebecca Campbell’s year-long Work Your Light course
🌹Embercombe’s 18-month-long apprentice in Contemporary Animism
🌹I am also a qualified Advanced Somatic Coach with the SOMA Method (200hrs)

But I DO NOT CONSIDER MYSELF TO BE A YOGA TEACHER.

I take issue with the word ‘yoga’ and the word ‘teacher’.

For me, ‘yoga’ lineages can often feel too uncomfortably associated with male gurus and strict rules and pushing your body into an asana that must look a certain way. I prefer words like embodied, intuitive, flow, somatic, ta***ic and authentic movement.

I am no one’s 'teacher’. I am just facilitating space for people to remember the wisdom, freedom, wildness, pleasure and power that reside within their own bodies.

I don't believe there is a 'right way' of moving. If you have integrity within your own body, it is impossible to do anything wrong. I simply guide people to turn every cell of their body into an ear and listen…

If I HAD to say what I do in a few words, I guess I would say that I offer a somatic, ta***ic, poetic, dance, yoga immersion, which explores what it means to be alive in this body.

Hope to see you on the mat my loves:

My divorce was not ruin for me, it was resurrection. A sensual awakening of self. A profound rite of passage. A ritual of truth. 🙏🏻

But it’s taken me this long to finally rewrite my will (which previously gave everything to my ex-husband).

I must admit, I thoroughly enjoyed the exercise.

I’ve divided my assets into 19 portions for 19 souls.

Each gift with one simple intention: use it in a way that aligns with love.

19 parcels of love, so 19 beautiful humans can ripple even more love into the world.
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

My will includes a eulogy I wrote for myself too. 😂

I have requested that my ‘funeral’ be a conscious ceremony/ritual in nature amongst my loved ones, with minimal expense (as we are all just stardust anyways).

I would like to donate all parts of my body to people that need them, or to science. Whatever parts are left, I would like cremated and my ashes returned to the Great Mother in the roots of a tree.

If we are scared of dying, maybe it’s because we are not making love to life.

I’m not scared of dying. ❤️‍🔥💫🐅🌋🌹

Sherin’s Story

Yoga is one of my greatest joys, which is connected to my love of the creative arts, nature, poetry, mindfulness, animals, philosophy, Shakti (feminine uprising), spirituality, and the cosmic universe.

I mainly teach vinyasa flow and yin yoga, but I incorporate other styles of yoga too, such as restorative and hatha yoga. I teach classes from my heart and soul, combining creative flowing yang sections with gentle yin and restorative sections to encourage a deep sense of relaxation and nurturing self-care.

I have been practicing yoga regularly for two decades, and teaching vinyasa flow and yin yoga since 2012. I have taught yoga at various gyms, schools, courts, and yoga studios in the UK and abroad, including in Hampshire, Kensington and Chelsea, Westminster, Holland Park, Cambodia and New York. I currently teach weekly classes in Hampshire.

I enjoy teaching clients 121, as everything can be designed especially for you. Please get in touch if this is of interest to you.
