When I did my ta**ra yoga training with Iris Disse
I asked for a reading list,
wanting, as always, to be a “good student.” 🤓
She said: no.
Read nothing.
Feel everything.
That is ta**ra. ✨
Unlike many spiritual paths that ask you to follow a doctrine, or scripture, or guru,
Ta**ra does not
(well, not in my personal experience anyway).
It simply invites you to try the 112 teachings in Vijnana Bhairava Ta**ra and witness for yourself.
Be your own guru.
It whispers.
Be your own king.
Be your own queen.
I love how the 112 teachings are so quietly confident.
Why so confident?
Because they work:
lying on your yoga mat,
eating a meal,
waiting for the bus,
making love,
in the momentary pause between inhale and exhale.
Ta**ra honours the full spectrum of what it means to be alive in this body:
from ecstasy all the way to despair.
It honours this body as sacred, exactly as it is.
This world as sacred.
Even, and especially, in its brokenness.
Ta**ra isn’t waiting at the end of a long road.
We don’t have to crawl repenting on our knees.
Ta**ra. Is. Right. Here.
In this body. In this moment.
In this beautiful bluebell wood, where I found myself on an extraordinarily ordinary walk today.
