Some Resident Doctors at RJAH are currently taking part in strike action as part of ongoing industrial action by the British Medical Association (BMA). The strike began at 7am on Friday 25 July and will continue until 7am on Wednesday 30 July.

Our priority as a Trust is to ensure the safety and care of our patients is maintained throughout this period.

If you have an appointment during the strike, please attend as planned unless you have been contacted directly by us to reschedule. We are only contacting patients whose appointments are affected. If you have not heard from us, please assume your appointment is going ahead as normal.

Patients with painful hip bursitis are now benefitting from a new, non-invasive treatment at RJAH – thanks to funding from The League of Friends RJAH 👏

Focused shockwave therapy has shown outstanding results, with 80% of patients reporting improvement, compared to just 15% with standard steroid injections. The treatment was introduced following a major research study led by Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon Mr Robin Banerjee.

RJAH is now the first NHS hospital in the UK to offer this innovative therapy - already helping dozens of patients, with more to come.

Some Resident Doctors at The Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital will be on strike from 7am on Friday 25 July to 7am on Wednesday 30 July as part of industrial action by the British Medical Association (BMA).

Our priority as a Trust is to make sure the safety of our patients is maintained during this period.

We would urge patients with appointments on one of these five days to attend as planned unless you hear otherwise from us.

We are contacting directly any patient whose appointment needs to be rescheduled as a result of strike action. If you do not hear from us, you should therefore assume your appointment is not impacted and will go ahead as planned.
