🃏✨ From Overthinker to Tarot Teacher: My Story ✨🃏
I was 17 when my Mum handed me a Tarot deck and a chunky book of meanings and basically said, “This is your thing now.”
My Nan read tealeaves. My Mum read palms.
Apparently Tarot was mine.
Cool, thanks for the legacy—but I’m a MASSIVE overthinker.
Like… wtf, anxiety spiral over 78 upright meanings and 78 reversed kind of overthinker. I can't remember why I walked into the room and you want me to memorise 144 cards...no chance pal!
So I did what any anxious, book-bound perfectionist would do: I panicked.
How the actual f**k was I supposed to remember it all?
Spoiler alert: I didn’t. And I didn’t need to.
That deck (Rider-Waite, and yes I still use it) sat quietly with me through my twenties and thirties, showing up when I hit those classic decision paralysis moments. You know, the ones where your brain is like a browser with 87 tabs open and all of them have something to say...
When I finally shut up long enough to listen, the guidance was there..I just rarely shut up long enough!
For years, I read for friends, family, randoms—always bang on the money—but still doubted myself.
Until my 40th birthday, when I gave myself the best gift I’ve ever had: a Tarot course with my now mentor Freddie. There's a longer story about all this (as there always is with me but I'll be doing a live to share it all).
In the first session he casually said we were ditching the handbook and reading with our intuition.
Cue panic again. What do you mean freestyle it?!
But that, my loves, changed everything.
