💫Let’s talk peri-menopause & menopause! Exercise can be extremely helpful when going through peri menopause or the actual menopause! 💫

Diet and regular exercise is key! It can help lift your mood and regulate hormones.

You’ve all heard that term you are what you eat and it’s so true! If you eat a low carb diet, cut the sugars down and have a variety of healthy foods, like vegetables, avocados, healthy fats and a good
mix of proteins, then you’re more likely to loose any extra weight you’ve gained during menopause. In turn this will help speed up your metabolism which very often lowers during the peri menopausal years!

Mentally you will feel much better with more energy rather then high and lows from too much sugar or caffeine. Make sure you drink lots of water too!

Try to stay active everyday even if it’s a gentle walk in nature or on the treadmill, cycling and a mixture of resistant training, weights, body weight or resistant machines at the gym. If your joints allow you to I would suggest incorporating some high intensity interval training. If not try low impact interval training. This will help burn calories and body fat.

Try to calorie deficit, so don’t over consume foods and especially the foods high in sugar like sweets, chocolate, carbs etc

Having a personal trainer can be really helpful as they can set aside a workout programme to suit your needs and maybe add a few group classes to you routine. This can help you stay accountable, consistent, make it varied and keep it fun!

To all ladies in their 40’s/50’s I want to help you get fit and healthy!

I’m 41 myself and I’ve noticed a decline in many things ie my sleep, my muscle tone, how one bad weekend feels like I’ve took 10 steps back weight wise lol and how much longer it takes to recover from training! 🤣🙌

But I am 💯 not going to let this stop me.

Here’s a few things I would suggest to anyone wanting to get back into exercise or to anyone who wants to get fit for the first time or maybe you just want some motivation.

Here it is 👇

✅Try to find an exercise you love because the enjoyment is the most important thing for continuous growth ie take up a new hobby like yoga or badminton or join a gym and find classes that you will enjoy and that will suit you and your abilities.

✅Once you get into it all you will love it! The hardest part is the start, trying to get back into things. But I promise you your body will thank you for it in time.

✅For our age strength training like weights or body pump style classes are great for joints , bones and maintaining lean muscle mass and keeping tone and cycle classes and aerobics or swimming are great too! These will help with your cardiovascular health. If you get fit in your 40’s your more likely to stay fit in your 50’s 🙌💪

✅Make sure you drink lots of water, get enough sleep, have time out for yourself, things like regular massage or holistic therapy treatments can really help support your physical and mental health and have a decent beakfast everyday especially protein!

✅ I find tracking my calories on my fitness pal app and tracking my macronutrients really helps. I have a good mixture of protein, healthy fats and a small amount of carbs preferably sweet potato or new potatoes. A high protein diet is key 🔑
