THERAPY GROUP
Psychotherapist - Denise Sims MSc. (Psychotherapy) CTA (P)

Group therapy offers a way for individuals to grow and know themselves better through their relationships with other group members. By exploring the way people relate to another in the group we understand ourselves better. This can provide the opportunity draw links between the group relationships and our person relationships.

The experience of group psychotherapy is profound and intensely moving, often creating a space for significant growth and change. The group will seek to experience the power of the I, the we and the it concept in its understanding of ourselves, the group and the other in relationship.

Denise is an experienced; UKCP registered psychotherapist, psychos*xual therapist and supervisor, trained and qualified to Masters level in Transactional Analysis Psychotherapy.

She works with groups therapeutically and within the context of training counsellors and therapists in academic settings. She is a member of several organisations, UKATA, EATA, IARTA, COSRT. This means that she works to a professional and ethical standard. These organisations advise and oversee how she provides therapy, ensuring that the governing bodies standards are met.

Denise works with a diverse community of people, applying an intersectional lens to her work, including but not limited to race, culture, gender, s*xuality, class, age, and dis/ability, whereby she is mindful of the social, cultural, and political conditions of lived experience. She is particularly interested in how diversity impacts the client, the group and the world in which we live.

Denise will be facilitating a therapy group based in East London. The group will meet on Monday mornings from 9.30am – 11.20ampm for 40 - 42 weeks per year. There will be a maximum of 8 members, primarily those in counselling/psychotherapy training who are working towards their Diploma’s and/or qualifications, but not restricted to such.
