BROKEN ARMS, BROKEN LEGS, NECK IN A BRACEā¦GOODNESS ME! EVERYTHING IS BROKEN!
Imagine someone after an accident: they have been rescued and taken to hospital and are convalescing in the hospital bed.
In spite of their injuries and all the bandages and the fact that they canāt do much physically just yet, they are still the same personā¦just a bit broken and needing time to heal.
Imagine further that when you visit them in hospital they tell you of their intentions to make you a 3-course dinner that night and then get frustrated and upset that they canāt and exclaim āIām uselessā¦I canāt do anything!āā¦what would you say to them?
Iām guessing something along the lines of: āYouāre not useless, youāre just a bit broken at the moment. You are still YOU under all the injuries and bandages, you just need to heal and get better and then you will be able to do all the things you want toā¦ā
NOWā¦
What if their injuries are not physical? What if they are emotionally and mentally a ābit brokenā? The same applies!
In spite of all their symptoms and behaviours ā drinking, over-eating, panic-attacks, hair-pulling, OCD, insomnia, low mood ā and the fact that they canāt do much physically and emotionally just yet, they are still the same personā¦theyāre just a bit broken and need time and help to heal.

Something along the lines of: āYouāre not useless, youāre just a bit broken at the moment. You are still YOU under all the hurt/problems/trauma, you just need to heal and get better and then you will be able to do all the things you want toā¦ā?
