๐Ÿ๐ŸฏLOCAL HONEY FOR SALE๐Ÿฏ๐Ÿ

ยฃ7 for a 1 lb jar.

Our summer honey has now been spun, strained and jarred.
We have for sale, summer runny honey and still have a limited stock of spring set honey.

Yawl Honey is a 100% all natural, filtered honey, sourced from bee's that have foraged on the wild flowers from the local area of our home apiary in Yawl NR Uplyme and our out apiaries NR Axminster and Hawkchurch.

Our honey isn't heated above hive temperature, so you can enjoy the flavour of how the bee's intended the honey to taste.๐Ÿ

Please message to collect from in us in Yawl, collect from North Avenue in Lyme Regis or can be purchased from the Booths stall on Lyme road, Uplyme.

I have made a Yawl Honey sign to go on the house, hopefully it will make it easier for our customers to find us. ๐Ÿ๐Ÿฏ

Friday was harvest day!
I went around all apiaries on Thursday afternoon to put the clearer boards on all the hives.
Friday morning was spent going to all apiaries to get supers off the hives.
Lunchtime to 9:45pm on Friday was extraction time.
It's a sticky job, but someone has to do it.๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿฏ

The bee in this video is performing a "waggle dance", she is telling the other bees around her the direction and distance nectar, water or pollen is in relation to the sun. You can see the bees close to her intently watching her every move. Twerk, twerk. ๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿ

๐Ÿ Did you know the queen bee and worker bees share identical DNA? ๐Ÿ‘ฏโ€โ™€๏ธ They aren't born queens โ€” they're made by what they eat! ๐Ÿฝ๏ธ๐Ÿ‘‘

From the moment they hatch, all bee larvae start off the same. But only a select few are fed royal jelly โ€” a rich, powerful superfood โ€” in large amounts during their development. The rest? They get a regular diet of nectar and pollen. ๐Ÿฏ๐ŸŒผ

That small dietary difference changes everything. The larva that feeds exclusively on royal jelly grows bigger, lives longer (years instead of weeks!), and gains the ability to lay thousands of eggs a day. Meanwhile, her identical sisters โ€” with the exact same DNA โ€” will become sterile workers with short lifespans. ๐Ÿ˜ฎ๐Ÿงฌ

This is one of natureโ€™s most striking cases of epigenetics โ€” the science of how environment and nutrition can switch genes on or off without altering the genetic code. ๐ŸŒฑโžก๏ธ๐Ÿง โžก๏ธโœจ

In short: You are what you eat. And in the hive, it can decide your entire destiny. ๐Ÿ๐Ÿฝ๏ธ๐Ÿ‘‘

When a hive swarms or the queen is removed, the queen's pheromones are no longer present.
The colony will produce numerous queen cells to produce another queen.
If unchecked, the hive could swarm over and over with new virgin queens until there are few bees left.
This is why weekly inspections are so important.
In this case I chose an open cell from another frame and removed ALL other cells.

Something a bit different for me this inspection day.
A hive tried to swarm but didn't get very far as the queen's wings had been clipped.

The girls are bringing the pollen in by the leg load. What a sight.๐Ÿ˜
