✈️ The role of ear wax and flying:
• Ear wax (cerumen) is normal and protective — it traps dust and keeps your ear canal healthy.
• However, excess wax can block your ear canal partially or fully.
• When your ear canal is blocked, it can interfere with how well your Eustachian tube equalizes air pressure in your middle ear.

🛫 Why pressure equalization matters on a plane:
• When a plane takes off or lands, the air pressure in the cabin changes quickly.
• Your middle ear must adjust to this by letting air in or out through the Eustachian tube.
• If ear wax blocks the canal or presses against the eardrum, it can:
• Trap air behind the wax,
• Make pressure equalization slower,
• Cause pain, discomfort, blocked ears, muffled hearing, or ear barotrauma (ear damage from pressure).
