✨🤍 2 Days until the new 5 wk term of baby massage starts 🤍✨

Here are a few flashback photos of me teaching my first ever baby massage class, when Finn and Amelia were just a few months old 🥰

That was nearly 10 years ago! I’ve had a few different part time employed roles during that time, but one thing hasn’t changed… my passion for teaching the life long skill of baby massage. It’s such a privilege to be a part of your maternity journey with your little ones ✨ It’s often the first class you venture out to with your newborn, so I make it as comfortable and welcoming as possible. Twinkly fairy lights, hot drinks and homemade cakes, with a truly supportive circle. I’ll create a WhatsApp group for you all so you can carry on meeting up for those all important coffee and catch ups.

There are still spaces available to join this Friday - I’d love to welcome you 🤍🌸

It’s bath time for this little fella! 🩵 He gets quite grubby feet, so I think it’ll be a more intense wash than just a quick top and tail 😆

I talk about in antenatal class about the fact that you don’t need to bathe your baby every day. You just wash their face, neck, hands and bottom instead. This is often called “topping and tailing” and we have a little demo of this. How to hold baby, use cotton wool and how to promote a calm, nurturing environment 🛁

“It takes a village to raise a child” is an African proverb that means a community of people is needed to raise a child in a safe and healthy environment. The phrase acknowledges that many people, including parents, siblings, neighbours, teachers, and community members, are involved in a child’s upbringing.

I came away from this baby massage session on Friday, thinking about how true this proverb is and how lucky I am to bring our community together.

This 5 week course is only the start of beautiful friendships that blossom. You’ll be part of a ready made parent gang who have your back.

This journey started nearly 10 years ago, with 6 month old twins and a spark of an idea to bring local parents and their babies together. My mum has been a huge part of the journey too and dedicated lots of her mornings to being on hand to make brews. She bakes homemade treats like these awesome jam biscuits every week, that still go down an absolute treat ❤️ Often it’s those little glimmers of pure joy, like enjoying a hot drink and biscuit while baby sleeps is just magic ✨

On Friday, we started a brand new 5 week course of baby massage with 10 beautiful babies and their parents.

One thing I always get parents to do is check in with their newborns. You might wonder at first what that actually means and how you can do it.

Signs that your baby is ready for a massage include:

💜 They are smiling or pull your hand towards them when you ask if they want a massage

💜 They are not restless or turning their head

💜 Their facial expressions are relaxed

Signs that your baby is not ready for a massage:

💜 They are tired or hungry - we’ve all been there… you arrive to class on time and baby needs changing or feeding. Please don’t worry - you absolutely soak it all in whether you get chance to massage or not. Plus I always send handouts and we repeat each body part every week, so you’ll get lots of opportunity to practice.

💜 They are fussy or not in the mood to be handled

💜 They have a high temperature

💜 They have a visible skin irritation like a rash

💜 They have recently had an immunisation

When to massage your baby:

🧸 You can massage your baby as part of their bath and bedtime routine … or you can absolutely practice when you change their nappy, start with a couple of minutes massaging legs and work your way up to a full body massage.

Most of all, it’s an opportunity to connect with your baby, talk to them and have lots of giggles along the way 😍

Hello 👋🏼

❄️ Happy New Year❄️! (Not sure when is the right time to stop saying that, but thought I would as I’ve not said hello in 2025 until now!)

I started off the year with a horrible virus and only just starting to feel better. So I postponed the baby massage course until next Friday 17th, rather than starting tomorrow. So for everyone booked onto the course, I urge you to make the most of your snow day and stay warm in your pjs, enjoying baby cuddles! We’ve been building snowmen and walking to and from school in the snow and it doesn’t seem to be going anywhere!⛄️

There is just one space remaining for baby massage if someone would like to take that place and start with us on 17th 🥰

There is also just one couples space remaining for the April antenatal course at The Gallery.

At this time of year, your social media is likely filled with people urging you to be MORE. More healthy, fit, organised, productive, the list goes on. Those mums who (appear to) have it all: the spotless house, homemade dinners, beautiful clothes, fulfilling careers, and kids who never cry, fight, or make messes.

I’d like to be that little reminder that YOU are enough. Especially when it comes to your baby - just being you is more than enough. Your arms are a place where they can rest their heads and feel love and protection.

We’re all in this crazy journey of motherhood together and it can be tough, but the pure magic I see in class when you are all there for each other makes me so so proud 🥹 I love that I bring you together and provide the space to laugh, support, cry, heal and learn together. Plus of course, the thing you all adore the most - my mums homemade cakes 🤣 (I’m not offended, honest!)
