Will I feel better after just one session or is this a long-term process?"

🦴 That’s one of the most common questions we get in MSK physiotherapy — and the truth is: it depends on your condition.

If you've had a recent acute injury (like a sprain, strain or back spasm), you may feel relief after just 1–3 sessions, especially with the right advice and home exercises.
But for more chronic issues like long-standing back pain, joint degeneration, or post-surgical rehab, you’ll likely need a longer-term plan — often 6–10 sessions spaced out over time.

At your first appointment, we’ll assess your movement, pain patterns, and lifestyle, then create a personalised treatment plan.

✅ Our goal? To help you move better, reduce pain, and give you the tools to stay pain-free — not to keep you coming forever.

“Shouldn’t I get an MRI first?”
Not necessarily.

Most musculoskeletal conditions can be diagnosed and treated by your physiotherapist without a scan.

In fact, MRIs often show changes that are completely normal for your age – not the cause of your pain.

💬 Come in. We’ll assess what’s actually causing your symptoms – and start helping from Day 1.

âś… No GP referral needed.

Migraine is not "just a bad headache" – it’s a neurological condition that can bring daily life to a standstill. Throbbing pain, nausea, light sensitivity, visual disturbances... sound familiar?

🧠 Physiotherapy can help reduce the frequency and intensity of migraine attacks.
By addressing muscular and postural imbalances – especially in the neck and upper back – manual therapy, postural re-education and relaxation techniques can all provide long-term relief.

🪡 Acupuncture, rooted in Traditional Chinese Medicine, offers a natural and powerful tool. It calms the nervous system, reduces inflammation, improves blood flow, and helps manage stress – one of the most common migraine triggers.

➡️ If migraines are ruling your schedule, it may be time to look at the problem differently – through the lens of tension, posture and nervous system balance.

We’re excited to share that our physiotherapist Karolina has recently completed a specialised course in Women’s and Pelvic Health Acupuncture (April 2025). This advanced training allows her to offer highly targeted, evidence-based support for a wide range of female health concerns.

Still in pain weeks after your injury? You’re not alone — and no, you're not “just getting old” or “taking too long to heal.” Most tissues should recover in 6–12 weeks, but that depends on how you move, load, and support your body during recovery. Too much rest weakens your muscles. Too much activity can overload sensitive tissues. And without expert guidance, it's easy to get stuck in a cycle of flare-ups and frustration.

At Uttoxeter Physiotherapy & Sports Injury Clinic, we help you break that cycle. With hands-on treatment and targeted rehabilitation, we address the root cause — not just the symptoms.

The bladder is more than a “container for urine” — it plays a major role in your quality of life.

🔸 First urge to urinate: ~150–200 ml
🔸 Strong need to void: 300–400 ml
🔸 Normal bladder capacity: 400–600 ml
🔸 You should be visiting the toilet around 5–7 times per day, every 3–4 hours

Frequent urination, urgency, going “just in case” or waking up at night could be signs of bladder dysfunction. But good news — bladder habits can be improved through hydration, behavioural strategies and pelvic health physiotherapy.

Piriformis Syndrome often mimics sciatica, but its root causes are frequently complex and require a deeper look. Accurate assessment is key, as symptoms may overlap with conditions such as lumbar disc issues or sacroiliac joint dysfunction.

Poor posture, prolonged sitting, or faulty movement patterns often contribute to chronic overload of the piriformis muscle. A tailored physiotherapy approach focuses on correcting these dysfunctions, not just managing symptoms.

Rehabilitation should include neuromuscular re-education, postural training, and functional exercises to restore balance in the pelvis and hip region.

In some cases, pelvic floor dysfunction may contribute to or coexist with piriformis syndrome, especially in women. A combined musculoskeletal and pelvic health physiotherapy assessment can be crucial.

Acupuncture based on Traditional Chinese Medicine can also support recovery by reducing pain, tension, and improving circulation.

If your symptoms are persistent, fluctuating, or complex – a personalised, whole-body approach may be the key to long-term relief.

25/03/2025

Endometriosis is a complex condition that affects many women, often causing chronic pelvic pain, painful periods, discomfort during in*******se, and even digestive or urinary issues. While medical treatments focus on hormonal therapy and surgery, physiotherapy can play a crucial role in managing pain and improving quality of life.

🔸 Pelvic Floor Physiotherapy – Many women with endometriosis develop pelvic floor dysfunction due to chronic pain. Physiotherapy helps release tension, improve muscle coordination, and reduce pain.

🔸 Manual Therapy & Myofascial Release – Soft tissue techniques can ease fascial restrictions and improve mobility in the pelvic area, lower back, and abdomen.

🔸 Breathing & Relaxation Techniques – Chronic pain can cause dysfunctional breathing patterns, increasing tension. Learning how to breathe properly can help reduce stress and pain.

🔸 Exercise & Movement Therapy – Gentle, tailored exercises improve circulation, flexibility, and mobility, reducing pain and stiffness.

🔸 Education & Lifestyle Advice – Understanding how posture, movement, and daily habits affect symptoms can make a big difference in long-term pain management.

If you struggle with endometriosis and are looking for a natural, effective way to regain control over your body, physiotherapy might be the missing piece!

🩺 How is endometriosis diagnosed?

Many women wait years for a diagnosis, believing their pain is "normal." Endometriosis can be confirmed through:

🔍 Medical history – providing a detailed description of symptoms is crucial.
🩻 Gynaecological ultrasound – can detect endometrial cysts.
🔬 Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) – helps visualise deep lesions.
✂️ Laparoscopy – method that confirms the diagnosis with 100% certainty.

‼️ Remember – the sooner you take action, the better for your health!

💜 Physiotherapy can support treatment by reducing muscle tension, improving circulation, and relieving pain. Don’t wait – book an appointment and see how we can help you!
