it’s holiday week so I’m offski! And despite there being a gym here I’ve not got my runners as it’s rest week. We enjoy active holidays with dares and challenges around the pool, tennis, and tomorrow we’re on a jeep and rafting adventure! Holidays do change when you have kids but just enjoy the time and talk to your kids, and be a big kid. Do the slides. Do the dance routines. I am.

(That’s not my foot btw in the video 😂🦶!)

Mum guilt. We all get it. And I felt so guilty for wanting to workout, I used to get up so early to not impact on my family time. Out before sunrise.
That’s where BF was born; surely with time available on May leave we can workout safely and enjoy time with baby. And encourage them to be healthy (they may be small but believe me they take it in!)

Simple short workouts at home, or on holiday. Enjoy cuddles and strengthen your core. Let’s do this 💪

1 mindset change that will impact you greatly!

Willpower. Whether that be for exercise, eat more healthier, make more time for yourself etc.

It takes more than willpower to really create a new habitat. Because some days it feels impossible to force yourself. Some days your body and mind work against your willpower. The “f**k it” days. Realise this is normal and set yourself up for success.

Get some accountability. Offer someone a lift so you have to go. Put the clothes out. Don’t buy the food.

Don’t rely on willpower to get you there for the first 60days.

Until you truly form a habit it will take willpower, and a little bit of something extra.

I hated running. At school. As an adult. But I kept at it. I set the alarm, got a routine, signed myself up for races, publicised it on socials. Because I knew my willpower would be none existent some days.

Now, even in days when I don’t feel
Like it, my feet just go to my running shoes and off they go. Habit. But I still hate it, sometimes!

Week ahead mindset

We’re off on holiday and I know for some people (me!) this can be a stressful time as your routine drops off, you want to “enjoy yourself” without the guilt.

Well here’s my top tips for getting through a holiday.

1. Don’t stress! A week off the gym is actually great for your body to rest and repair, maximising those gains! 🧘‍♀️

2. You can still move without a gym. Do some fun activities that get you all moving. Or take your resistance band and grab some me time for 30min a day. 🏃‍♀️

3. Good can vary depending on where you are. Try not to overthink but also stay present with what your body needs. Drink plenty of water to counter the alcohol and if you’re in a hot country fill up on fruit 😜

If 2020 taught us anything about fitness, it’s that it can be done anywhere. So no excuses!

Sometimes we just can’t get to a gym, or join a class that we can attend every week. And when you have children their sleep patterns and other commitments can take over your schedule.

2020 saw many an online session for the lovely Blooming Fitness family and whilst we missed the togetherness of the studio we still took time to workout together!

And as I can’t run classes in every town (just yet!) I decided to put the Back2Exercise course online!
