🎉We’re proud to share that our surgical teams have completed 500 procedures using our Da Vinci robot.

The surgery, a gall bladder removal, took place this week. Patient, Sanaa Shawahina from Ealing, said she was feeling good, with minimal pain and was looking forward to going home on the same day.

This milestone is thanks to the dedication, skill and teamwork of our staff. 💙👏

📢 Share your views on proposals for a new Mount Vernon Cancer Centre.

NHS England has launched a public consultation on plans to relocate Mount Vernon Cancer Centre to a new, purpose built facility next to Watford General Hospital. The proposals also include opening a chemotherapy unit at Hillingdon Hospital.

This week is Cervical Cancer Prevention Week 💙

A reminder of how important it is to attend your regular cervical screening appointment. Screening can detect early cell changes that, if left untreated, could develop into cancer.

You'll see pipework near the A&E entrance.

Our services will not be affected and will be open as usual.

At 85, John Jones, patient at Hillingdon Hospital, faced bowel cancer and underwent robotic surgery.🏥

Just five months later, he cycled in the UCI World Gravel Championships and completed the 81km route. 🚴‍♂️🏅.

John thanked consultant colorectal surgeon Alistair Myers and his team for their incredible care and support.

🎉Hillingdon Hospital & Mount Vernon Treatment Centre have been awarded Gold Level in the National Joint Registry Quality Data Provider Awards 2025!🏅

🏆 A Gold Level Certification was awarded for achieving excellence in promoting patient safety standards through compliance with the National Joint Registry quality audit process.

👏 Special thanks to Jaspreet Bhambra, National Joint Registry Audit Facilitator, for coordinating data collection and ensuring submissions met national standards.

She said: "Thank you to all the clinical staff for working together and supporting the process of audit success. The dedication and attention to detail have been key to the Orthopaedics Team achieving the Gold Award for the second time. Well done!" 🎖️

Today, we're continuing to spotlight some of the amazing work of our staff:

✅ Our colorectal team achieved a major milestone and completed 25 complex procedures using the Da Vinci surgical robot.

🌿Our beautiful Jubilee rehab garden opened, thanks to our volunteers and Hillingdon Hospitals Charity.

💙 We successfully performed our first day case arthroplasty at Mount Vernon Hospital. This means patients can have joint replacement surgery and return home the same day, improving recovery times and overall experience.

👏Our breast surgery team performed the UK’s first Single-Incision Endoscopic Breast Conserving Surgery – combining safety with excellent cosmetic outcomes.

As 2025 draws to a close, we’re celebrating some of our incredible achievements:

✅ Plans for our new hospital were announced, a major step towards improving care for our community.

💙 On International Day of Happiness, we launched Hillingdon Hearts, a staff recognition scheme which celebrates everyday acts of kindness among colleagues.

🏆 Our cyber security manager, Nasser Arif, received two national awards for championing neurodiversity in cyber security and promoting inclusive employment.

🍽️ Our Trust was rated the best acute Trust for food in NHS England’s annual Patient-Led Assessments of the Care Environment (PLACE).

💡 The first patient in the UK to undergo a pioneering keyhole breast reconstruction surgery shared her inspiring story, saying she now “feels whole again.”

This breakthrough procedure, developed by surgeons at Hillingdon Hospital and the Royal Free London, was featured in a BBC News report.
