NHS bowel cancer screening kits are offered to everyone aged between 50 and 74.

They can help find cancer early, before you even have any symptoms. And the earlier cancer is found, the easier it can be to treat.

When your kit arrives, put it by the loo. Don’t put it off.

Let someone else know they should send their kit back – especially as April is Bowel Cancer Awareness month.

Important update for anyone needing urgent mental health support on the Isle of Wight!

From Tuesday 7 April, the Access to Intervention (A2I) line (01983 522214) on the Isle of Wight, previously known as the Crisis Line, will no longer be in service.

All patients or service users who need urgent mental health support should now call NHS 111 and select the mental health option (option 2). NHS 111 is available 24 hours a day and acts as the first point of contact for urgent mental health support, connecting callers with trained professionals who can assess needs and help them access the right care.

This change aligns with national NHS guidance, providing a single, clear route to urgent mental health support.

Additional support is also available through services such as Safe Haven and Shout:

• Safe Haven – email: safehaven@twosaints.org.uk
, telephone: 01983 520168
• Shout – Text ‘HANTS’ to 85258

Healthwatch Isle of Wight is currently running a short survey to gather local feedback on the Government’s plans to introduce a new online NHS service. The proposed “online hospital” model aims to provide quicker access to specialist advice and greater choice in how care is delivered, including an estimated 8.5 million virtual specialist appointments over its first three years.
Further information about the proposal is available from NHS England here:
https://www.england.nhs.uk/2025/09/new-nhs-online-hospital-to-give-patients-more-control-over-their-care/

As part of its statutory role, Healthwatch is required to share local views with NHS decision-makers. We will be using the findings from this survey to inform our formal response to NHS England, regarding their plans for the new online service.

The survey asks three simple questions:
• What do you think about the plans?
• Would you use this type of service?
• Do you have any concerns?
The survey link is:

Thank you for your time

Please take a few minutes to take our survey.
