Supporting our teams during World Alzheimer’s Month 🤝

As part of World Alzheimer’s Month, we are proud to share The Dementia Handbook with our Home Managers and Dementia Champions across Hamberley Care Homes.

This week, David Moore, our Head of Dementia, presented a copy of the handbook to Fiona Smith, Home Manager at Richmond Manor.

The handbook has been developed as a practical resource to support our teams in delivering compassionate, relationship-centred care for residents living with dementia and their families.

“The most rewarding part of being Dementia Champions is truly seeing and knowing our residents living with dementia for who they really are. We share our knowledge, passion, and skills with colleagues, residents, and families to help create positive change.

As Dementia Champions, it’s our responsibility to be role models, lead by example, and ensure that care is always person-centred. We want the voices and choices of our residents to be heard, and their social, physical, and emotional wellbeing to always come first.” 💜

💜 During World Alzheimer’s Month, we’re proud to share that residents and the team at Meryton Place Care Home in Keynsham raised an incredible £730 for the Keynsham & Saltford Dementia Action Alliance.

This fantastic donation will help support people living with dementia in the local community. 💙

💜 September is World Alzheimer’s Month 💜

At Hamberley Care Homes, we’re proud to support this global initiative to raise awareness, challenge stigma, and highlight the importance of compassionate dementia care.

Earlier this year for dementia action week, we sat down with our Head of Dementia, David Moore, to talk about the small changes we can all make to better support those living with dementia and their families. His insights remain just as relevant today.

Sip & Smile – Wine Tasting afternoon ☺️🍷

Residents and visitors joined us for a wonderful wine-tasting experience where they sampled a selection of wines, including Sauvignon Blanc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, and other classics.

We discovered we have some true wine lovers among our residents, who shared their knowledge and talked about their favourite wines.
Resident Eunice even told us about her experience of making her own wine in the past – such a lovely story to hear! 🍇

Some residents who didn’t want to drink wine, enjoyed soft drinks and lovely conversations.

As part of the afternoon, residents and visitors completed feedback sheets, rating each wine on its appearance, aroma, and taste.

It was a truly enjoyable afternoon filled with laughter and conversation.🍷

✨ This Week at Hamberley Care Homes ✨

What a week it has been across our Hamberley homes – full of music, laughter, sunshine, and wonderful memories 💛

🌞 Brookwater House Care Home – Residents enjoyed a magical afternoon with singer Marco, who wowed everyone with Italian classics and a heartfelt rendition of “My Way”.

💃 Charrington Manor Care Home – Simon had everyone moving with a joyful morning of ballroom dancing.

🎶 Cofton Park Manor Care Home – Enjoyed a bank holiday weekend filled with sing-a-longs, cheese & wine, and sunshine in the garden.

🌿 Dorking Manor Care Home – Had a fantastic day trip to Polesden Lacey, where residents explored history, art, and the beautiful gardens.

🏌️ Edwalton Manor Care Home – Residents had a wonderful outing to The Nottinghamshire Golf & Country Club, with golf buggies and afternoon tea.

🎨 Meryton Place Care Home – Audrey (celebrating her 100th year! 🌟) joined Clive & Tony on a trip to The Holburne Museum in Bath, enjoying art, history, and delicious cake.

🎉 Nesbit House Care Home – Held a brilliant summer party with live music, cocktails, magic, and delicious food.

🎤 Newton House Care Home – Roland Russell had residents singing, clapping, and dancing with his fantastic live performance.

🦉 Templeton Place Care Home – Residents enjoyed a fascinating Birds of Prey talk, meeting Wilfred the owl, Whispa the baby owl, and London the hawk.

🐴 Upton Manor Care Home – Enjoyed a summer party with a petting farm, Punch & Judy, crafts, stalls, and a sizzling BBQ in the sunshine.

💖 Thank you to our wonderful teams, entertainers, and communities who make weeks like this so special for our residents. Here’s to many more joyful moments together!

A Wonderful Start to the Week! 🌟

This morning, our residents enjoyed an uplifting exercise session with Fionn ✨.
Everyone joined in with gentle stretches, seated exercises, and light movements using dumbbells – lots energy all around! 😊

In the afternoon, we had a delightful trip out to Burley in the New Forest. Residents enjoyed tea, cake 🍰☕, and some browsing through the charming shops windows filled with interesting treasures. 🛍️

We’re so proud to have hosted such a special night filled with delicious food from our talented Hamberley chefs, 80s music, laughter, dancing – and of course, the famous conga line! 🎶

🌻 A Perfect Afternoon 🌻🤠

What a wonderful afternoon we’ve shared at our Country Summer Hoedown Party!
From the moment two ponies arrived, there were smiles all around as residents and guests enjoyed their company and gentle nature. 🐴💛

Grace, our talented homemaker, filled the garden with music as she strummed her ukulele and sang — a beautiful soundtrack to a sunny afternoon. 🎶

The kitchen team spoiled us with delicious food and refreshments, while our country-themed photo corner, complete with props and rustic backdrop, had residents and staff striking their best poses for the camera. 📸🤠

With the weather on our side, we sat back on straw bales, soaking up the sunshine and the laughter of friends, family, and staff all around. 🌞

thank you to our residents, relatives, friends, staff, and visitors who made today feel so full of joy. It was truly a day to remember! 🥰✨

🚂✨ All Aboard the Intercontinental Express at Cofton Park Manor! ✨🚂

Last week, our care home Cofton Park Manor in Cofton Hackett took residents, families, and the local community on an unforgettable journey around the world – all without leaving the home! 🌍

From Italy’s rich flavours and Mexico’s vibrant fiesta, to the sunshine spirit of Greece, the electric energy of Ibiza (complete with a neon rave 🪩🎶), and finally Sweden – each day was packed with themed food, live entertainment, and cultural activities.

They even had their very own train conductor checking passports as guests boarded for each destination – adding to the fun and sense of adventure! 🚉✈️

The atmosphere was filled with laughter, music, dancing, and connection – a perfect reminder that life doesn’t stop when you move into a care home; it’s just the start of a new chapter filled with amazing experiences. 💙

A huge thank you to the incredible Cofton Park Manor team for hosting such a creative, joy-filled week – right down to the tiny details that made it feel like a true holiday for our residents.

We’re here in Verwood town centre to support Verwood Rotary in celebration of VJ Day. There’s drinks, live music and of course you can buy some ducks for the Verwood Rustic Fayre Family Duck Race! 🐤

It’s been another week full of smiles, creativity, and great company!
😀 Here’s a peek at what we’ve been up to:

🎶 Entertainment with Steve Linn – The fabulous Steve had everyone singing, laughing, and clapping along to a variety of fantastic songs.

🦜 Bird Picture Bingo – With our Wellbeing Coach Emilia, residents enjoyed matching birds to their pictures, learning their names, and sparking conversation.

🎨 Crafts Session – We set sail with creativity, making small sailing boats, naming them together, and decorating them with our own unique designs while chatting about holiday memories.

🎈 Mr Pop's Balloons – Always a great afternoon!
Mr Pops wowed us again with his balloon modelling skills, and took on some tricky requests from our residents and staff! ☺️

🚌 Minibus Trip – A lovely outing to the Castle Point shopping centre, browsing clothes and enjoying drinks at a M&S café.

🌼 we’ve also had fun with the magic table, spent time in the garden, and enjoyed reminiscing together.

This special moment marks our ongoing partnership and shared commitment to supporting our local community. Being part of the Rotary Club means so much to us – it’s about friendship, service, and working together to make a positive difference.

We’re honoured to stand alongside so many dedicated people who give their time and energy to help others. A huge thank you to the Rotary Club for welcoming us so warmly.

Yesterday we hosted our monthly Networking Brunch for Professionals here at Verwood House.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us – it was fantastic to see so many friendly faces coming together to make new connections, and enjoy some delicious breakfast.

These mornings are a wonderful way for local businesses, community groups to connect and learn more about what’s happening both in our community and here at Verwood House.

We truly value the support and interest from everyone who attends, and we’re already looking forward to welcoming everyone back next month!
