Today, our gracious Merlewood home offers 53 ensuite bedrooms providing nursing or personal care to the highest standards. Merlewood, a handsome Victorian house, is situated on 23 acres of grounds in Virginia Water, overlooking the Surrey Hills. Our home offers outstanding levels of service and care in stylish and comfortable spaces that provide a warm welcome for all. We provide both residential and nursing care on a long-term or short stay basis, as well as offering end of life care.

Every Monday morning, our residents come together for their “Keep Mobile” session with the fantastic Shelley Davies 😊

This morning, Shelley led a brilliant session focused on strengthening and movement, helping our residents stay independent for as long as possible. It was a great turnout, and this week everyone who attended was given a fun challenge to keep them motivated 💪

Shelley even gave our visiting dog Luna a complimentary massage, as she was also struggling a little with her mobility 🐾

We are been proud to have taken part in Nutrition and Hydration Week here at Merlewood Care Home!

This important week highlights just how vital good nutrition and hydration are for maintaining health and wellbeing. Our team has been busy making mealtimes and drinks both enjoyable and engaging for our residents.

From colourful, nutritious meals to a variety of refreshing drinks, we’ve been encouraging everyone to stay well nourished and hydrated.

A big thank you to our dedicated team for making the week so special—and to our wonderful residents for getting involved.

What a wonderful week it’s been here at Merlewood Care Home! Our activities team has truly gone above and beyond.

Alongside our regular schedule of events, we enjoyed plenty of fun and festivities celebrating St Patrick’s Day and Red Nose Day, as well as a special trip on our minibus to the London Eye, where we took in all the fantastic sights of London.

The trip had to be postponed three times due to our inclement British weather, but Thursday turned out to be the perfect day—so off we went! Our residents absolutely loved taking in the sights.

London in the sunshine is simply unbeatable!

Friday = Fun Day! 🎉

Happy Red Nose Day from our home to yours ❤️

Today, our staff and residents dressed in their wackiest outfits to celebrate Red Nose Day and took part in the “Design Yer Nose” activity. It was great fun and brought lots of smiles and giggles all round.

A shout out to Doreen who won the competition using her fabulous crafting skills.

Yesterday here at Merlewood Care Home, we celebrated St. Patrick’s Day in style.

Earlier in the week, our residents took part in a craft session, creating some wonderful St. Patrick’s decorations to brighten up our home for the big day.

Yesterday afternoon, after an assortment of activities, our baking class got underway, where residents made a delicious Irish apple cake.

To round off the day, we enjoyed a traditional St. Patrick’s buffet for supper—along with the inevitable tipple to complete the celebrations. 🍀

This weekend, here at Merlewood Care Home we celebrated Doreen and Arthurs 67th Wedding Anniversary.

It was such a special day.

When asked if Doreen had any tips for couples staring their lives together she said she had learnt that 'Behind every successful man is a good, but exhausted woman'

Yesterday we celebrated Mother’s Day here at Merlewood care home, and it was a truly special day. 💐

We want to wish a very happy Mother’s Day to all the wonderful mums, grandmothers, and mother figures in our lives. Your love, strength, kindness and wisdom mean so much to your families and to all of us here.

To our residents, families, and friends — thank you for helping make the day full of smiles, memories, and appreciation. We hope everyone felt just how loved and valued they are. ❤️

This morning, we held our first Professional Breakfast Meeting of 2026.

Even at 8.30 this morning, it was too lovely to stay indoors, the sun was shining and the smell of freshly cut grass filled the air.
So we ventured out onto our terrace to enjoy a taste of summer.

Our networking group brought together a fantastic mix of local businesses and individuals, each sharing their knowledge, experience, and expertise with the group.

Thank you to everyone who attended and contributed — it was great to hear from you all.

And a big thank you for the beautiful flowers as well… a lovely reminder of just how powerful and rewarding networking can be. 🌸
