Hi all, it with a heavy heart that I have decided to close for a bit longer. I am not permanently closing, and may re-open in the future, but for now it's not on the cards.

My personal and work circumstances have changed recently which would mean trying to run the business would be challenging for me and my family. I have recently had some unfortunate news about my back pain following an MRI and working in such a physical job is not advised and could be detrimental.

That coupled with the increase cost of living, understandably, my service is not a priority as people are forced to cut costs.

Hopefully, one day I may reopen, in the mean time, I thank you for all the custom over the years, and the support during COVID!

I will not be manning this page whilst the business is closed. Hope you all understand.

Reminder about payments.

I just wanted to offer a reminder as this has come up regularly recently.

- deposits need to be paid to secure the appointment (Minimum 50%).
- these deposits are non refundable but if you contact before 24 hours I will move the deposit to a new appointment
- people who sign up to a block purchase - this payment is also non refundable. This is at a reduced rate already.
- I am willing to consider payment plan for these, I understand they are an expense, however, you need to be ahead of payments so I am not in debt essentially
- I take cash, card or bank transfer, details are available on request.

A few people have been asking, so here is a reminder, a link to the resistance bands I use! https://amzn.to/3vfdLPS

TIGHT OR SORE LEGS

Foam rolling can be uncomfortable, but it is effective. Remember that you’re in control of how much body weight you place on the roller; less weight is less intense, and vice versa. If you were to quantify pressure, aim for four out of ten. Discomfort higher than a five is considered pain, so it’s no longer effective.

💥Hold the foam roller at each individual trigger point for 20-30 seconds, without rolling on or off that spot.

💥Some muscles have several areas of tension. Take your time, and pay attention to the entire region. After each 30-second hold, you can subtly move the roller to a new trigger point on that same muscle.

💥To roll correctly, start at one end of the muscle. Then slowly roll your way to the other end. To find your trigger points, you may need to repeat this action a couple of times on each muscle.

💥To stay balanced and aligned, work on the same muscle group on both sides of the body.

Foam rolling sets are a good way to have all products available so you can grade your session. See link for an example (AF)

Frequently asked Questions about cupping

💥Is it painful?
Massage cupping therapy is not painful, but everyone experiences this technique differently. You can liken the amount of pain to a deep tissue massage which gets into the deeper layers of muscle tissue. Most of my clients enjoy the experience and the benefits without pain.

💥Does it cause bruising?
Cupping marks cannot be called bruises simply because of the way bruises are caused. Bruises appear when the body experiences some kind of blunt injury or trauma. The impact can break the blood capillaries present under the skin, which is why you see the redness. The body responds to the injuries with a rush of healing fluids to the area that also contribute to the bruising or redness. When the proteins at the injury site begin to coagulate, blood circulation reduces and the patient feels pain. Cupping marks are caused by suction from the cupping set instead of the pressure in case of trauma, and works to bring toxins to the surface. The most important differentiating factor is the cupping marks do not cause pain and if there is any discomfort, it is minimal and goes away quickly.

💥How long will the marks last?
The colouring typically ranges from bright red to a darker purple, and can last from 3 days to a week. A darker colouring means that there is a high level of toxins and stagnation in the section of the body that has been treated. In this case, the marks can last for up to 3 weeks. However, if there are hardly any toxins, the colouring could be just a light pink and is likely to dissipate within a few hours. Clients also note that even if the initial treatments cause darker colour marks, subsequent sessions result in lighter and lighter marks as the pathogens leave the body. After a point, there will be no marks whatsoever even if more intense suction is performed and for longer durations at a given time. However, in cases where the client has experienced an injury, multiple cupping sessions may be needed to induce healing in the deeper tissues of the body.

Massage Gun Therapy

Massage guns are electronic devices that are often used by massage therapists to relieve pain and improve blood circulation. They do this by producing vibrations that are applied to the skin with the help of a massage gun head.

These deeper vibrations is what is famously known as percussion therapy. This is actually why they’re also called percussion massagers. A therapist may be able to offer a deep massage, but a massage gun in hand takes it a notch higher.

I may often incorporate this into part of your therapy sessions, expecially on areas that need a little more attention.

Massage guns are also a good way to promote self care in-between massage sessions. 'Topping up' or self care will reduce the risk of tightness, restrictions and injury.

It is easy for you to do on easy reach parts of your body, or for someone to do for you on the harder to reach areas!

I use the Hoposo massage gun, purchased from amazon (AF)

Peanut Massage Ball

I will often advocate the use of foam rollers or massage balls for in-between massage.

It's an effective trigger point exercise and can help to reduce tension, tightness, and soreness in your muscles, tendons, ligaments, and fascia - all areas that are key for athletic performance.

In addition, using massage balls can increase your blood circulation, which is an important contributing factor for healing and nourishing the entire body.

See below link to an affordable and versatile massage ball that can be used for several parts of your body!

Long Term Conditions

Just a reminder that whilst I also work with sports people, I LOVE and specialise in working with people with long term conditions.

The aim of the service is to offer regular treatment session to allow the individual to manage their symptoms and improve their quality of life.

You can experience a number of benefits following a massage treatment such as decreased pain, increased range of movement, reduction in stiffness and increased relaxation.

I have or have had in the past, clients on my books with ongoing conditions such as:

- chronic pain
- fibromyalgia
- ME/CFS
- musculoskeletal
- cerebral palsy
- parkinsons
- arthritis

My role as an occupational therapist allows me to provide greater understanding and depth to my assessment. I also look at you holistically.

If you would like to know more or discuss the benefits, please message me

What is Myofascial Cupping?

Cupping Therapy is one of the oldest forms of medical treatment available. Originating in Eastern China and Africa, this method of treatment is chosen to relieve pain and tension in the body using the application and suction pressure of plastic or glass cups.

Areas of musculoskeletal tension or congestion are located using massage techniques, cups are then applied on an affected area and moved over the surface in a gliding motion, or possibly put on a fascial adhesion or trigger point for a short time to reduce and eliminate it.

The cups can also be placed on specific points of the body to release localised acute and chronic tension and help to increase blood flow to the area.

A myofascial cupping treatment uses a combination of massage strokes and negative pressure to lift, separate, and stretch underlying soft tissues. Cupping is typically applied on the neck, shoulders, back, thigh, calves, and upper arms.
