What to expect from me as your therapist? 🧠

💭 A common misconception about therapists/counsellors is that we’re here to tell you what to do. What we can do is guide you, encourage you, empower you and offer you tools to help you along the way 🧰

💭 More common in therapy than it ever used to be, is having a relatable and somewhat reactive therapist. Someone that isn’t going to stare at you expressionless from across the room as though you’re in a formal business meeting! This doesn’t mean your therapist is unprofessional.. In many instances it can strengthen the therapeutic relationship. I’m human too and I hear you 👂🏼

💬 If I sound like the kind of therapist you’re looking for, I’m accepting a limited number of new clients ONLINE ONLY until the end of the summer. If you’d like face-to-face sessions in the Lincolnshire & Gloucestershire areas, please contact me to join my waiting list 💻📝

🗣️ SAY IT LOUDER FOR THOSE IN THE BACK: We are not responsible for managing anyone else’s emotions but our own! 😌

Contrary to popular belief, “keeping the peace” or “sweeping under the rug” doesn’t make your life easier. It pushes your own needs to the background and will keep doing so until there’s no room left and you’re overwhelmed with it all.

Rewiring your brain to stop “people-pleasing” is no quick-fix. It takes practice & determination but the benefits are more than worth it 🙏🏼🧠

Recovering people-pleaser or at your wit’s end with your current thought patterns? I only have a couple more spaces left for evening clients online until we reach waitlist 💻 so pop me a message to enquire 💬

🥀 AM I HEALING OR AM I BEING AVOIDANT? ❤️‍🩹

The chances are, if it feels “easy” or “pain-free”, it is more likely to be avoidance than healing work. True healing tends to feel uncomfortable, painful and often gets worse before it gets better. Of course, healing is not ‘one size fits all’ and there will be situations where the healthier option is an avoidant one - e.g. cutting out someone you feel unsafe with. It is still worth familiarising yourself with avoidant behaviours, so that you can reflect and possibly reassess your approach 🌹

❗️Social media posts/Google is not a substitute for therapy or counselling. If you can relate to the above avoidant behaviours and find yourself struggling or feeling stuck in a rut, please look into meeting with a therapist. If you think I’d be a good fit, feel free to message me as I have a couple of free slots becoming available in June 😊❗️

🪧 Signs to look out for if you feel someone may be disrespecting your boundaries and what you can do about it!

It can be really challenging to stand up for ourselves if we feel our boundaries have been crossed, especially past & present people-pleasers! But we must remember that our boundaries are what allow us to feel safe and protected. We are autonomous and WE decide what we can cope with and what we will accept from others in our lives. 🫧

Let’s talk BOUNDARIES.. & some examples 🗣️

Healthy boundaries are put in place to PROTECT OURSELVES, our wellbeing and autonomy, in our relationships whether that be friends, family or romantic partners. It is a clear communication of your needs and a statement of what you are willing to accept from another person 🧠💭🚪
