We are absolutely thrilled to be sharing an announcement today which has been in the pipeline for quite some time.

As part of our ongoing growth strategy and with a keen eye on the future, we are waving a fond farewell to the name Food Surveys Ltd (FSL). It has served us well for over 30 years, but the time has come to embrace the future with a fresh identity that more accurately reflects who we are and the direction in which we are headed.

As such….we are re-launching as Audit Point - a name and brand that better represents our expertise, ambition, and the incredible work our team does every day all over the UK and Ireland. This is a massively exciting step forward, and we could not be prouder of the journey we are on together.

We offer these inspections throughout the UK on timescales ranging from four hours to one week, with all the data available on our bespoke online platform. These audits are excellent for assessing a variety of issues, including a sudden decrease in food quality from certain suppliers, incorrectly labelled or packaged products and even simply if the taste is not up to scratch. Do you know that all the data we collect goes on to our very own bespoke online platform? This allows our clients to access a whole wealth of graphs, statistics and pre-made reports with handy search options so they can find the exact information they are looking for. Over the years, a few of our clients have asked for new features which would be beneficial to their business, so we've created them too! Our online platform is constantly improving and evolving and if it doesn't quite yet cover an area our clients are interested in, it's quite possible we'll be able to build it!

Our audits are fully flexible which allows our clients to change the focus of inspections quickly to suit their immediate business needs. So, if you are seeing a sudden surge in underweight steaks or a spike in poor quality berries, our inspectors can easily shift their usual procedure to ensure these products receive an in-depth review, with real time feedback sent straight to you. We also now have a greater geographical coverage across the UK and Ireland than ever before, so if your business is experiencing a fall in standards at a certain pub, depot or supplier, we are likely to be able to offer a short notice visit to the site. All this allows impartial data to be fed back to our clients quickly, allowing them to make important decisions to maintain good quality and happy customers.

Do you know that we offer meat, fish and poultry inspections? These audits can take place in depots, supermarkets and pubs / restaurants and see our inspectors take a deep dive into our clients’ stock. Potential quality issues we may raise include excess levels of fat, poor cuts of steak, foreign bodies or simply damaged packaging. In addition, we can also promote high food safety standards by ensuring meat is stored and cooked at the correct temperatures and that it is stored away from other foods. As with all of our inspections, these are tailored to each individual client, ensuring they have the exact data they need to make better business decisions.

Do you know that we offer benchmarking inspections? These audits see our client select certain fresh food focus products which we then purchase from their stores and their competitors. These products are compared by our impartial and knowledgeable inspectors to give each item an overall rating and of course answer the key question, would you buy it? Benchmarking inspections are a valuable tool for our clients to see how they are performing against their main competitors without any bias. If this is something that could benefit your business, get in touch today!

Our food safety inspections help large pub and restaurant chains gain a better insight into how each of their premises is run whilst offering individual pub managers valuable training and advice. Our audits look at all the same areas an EHO inspection would, allowing us to advise on what areas of the business need improving in order to gain the best possible result. We take a deep dive into all areas of the pub or restaurant, including allergen management, food storage practices, pest control measures, risk assessments and even the condition of the building. All of this ensures that customers receive only the best food, service and experience possible.

With 2024 now upon us, it’s once again time to see what the experts have predicted will be the top food trends over the next 12 months.

Substitute meat sales took a hit last year as consumers moved away from artificial meat but many are still interested in vegan / vegetarian food. Therefore, experts believe plant-based food will increasingly be just that, packed full of plants such as lentils, mushrooms and nuts.

Sustainability is also thought to be an ever-growing factor when it comes to consumers making their food decisions. No longer do they just want healthy ingredients but they want them to be grown in a sustainable manner with minimal chemical input and environmental damage. For example, alternative chocolate is set to rise as consumers choose to avoid cocoa, an ingredient which has led to mass deforestation.

In terms of cuisines, fusion is now being revived as third-culture cuisine and sees chefs embrace their diverse backgrounds to create exciting dishes which may be Japanese-Italian or Filipino-British. Yet whilst people are craving some adventurous meals this year, the classic comfort food is still a firm go to for many, especially if they can be made with cheap, long shelf life ingredients which customers are seeking out amid continuing food inflation.

The top flavours this year are thought to include tahini, buckwheat, florals and Asian ingredients such as black sesame, all included in every type of food you can imagine, from cakes to coffee to salad dressing.

Finally, will this be the year that AI gets involved in food? Many believe AI will soon be used in all areas of the food industry but AI-powered apps may soon act as people’s very own cooking assistant at home.
