A huge thank you to the wonderful Gaynor from The Hidden Gem at The Old Vicarage for offering a session of cortisol sound therapy using a tuning fork!

What is cortisol sound therapy?

Cortisol is a hormone your body produces when you are stressed. High levels of it can leave you feeling drained and anxious. This therapy uses a special tuning fork to create a specific frequency of sound. When the fork is used on or around your body, the vibrations help your nervous system shift from a "fight or flight" state to a more relaxed "rest and digest" state. This process helps to lower your cortisol levels, calming your body and mind.

My experience:

I wasn't sure what to expect, but the effect was incredible. I was feeling quite stressed and anxious beforehand, but by the end of the session, I felt completely different. The vibrations were incredibly calming, and I could literally feel the tension melting away. Afterwards, I felt a sense of peace and clarity. It's a truly amazing and non-invasive way to find balance.

A huge thank you to our friends at Division 24 Skate Store for their awesome donation to our raffle!

If you don't know them, Division 24 was founded in 2001 by brothers Wayne and Dave Miller and has been dedicated to serving the Wakefield skate scene for two decades. They're a skater-owned store that supports local talent, events, and even helps get skateparks built!

You can find them at The Old Vicarage on Zetland Street. Be sure to drop in, check out their vast array of skate gear, and show your support!

We have always been massive supporters of CoffeeWrite. In our opinion, they have the best coffee in town, and we love that all their produce is ethically sourced. They also have a huge array of delicious teas and dairy alternatives to boot!

The market will run from 5pm to 8pm, and is open to artists of all disciplines and experience levels who would like the opportunity to sell their art. Tables are free, but limited.

We're kicking off our Grand Reopening with an Open Mic Night, and we want YOU to be a part of it.

Whether you're a singer-songwriter with some fresh tracks, a poet with something to say, or a band ready to jam, the stage at The Art Exchange is all yours.

The night will be hosted by the amazing Yiks, so you know it's going to be a good one!

We're celebrating with a huge night of art, music, and community.

5pm - 8pm: Art Exhibitions

We are thrilled to be joined by some incredible local talent!

Wakefield Camera Club: A fantastic collection of their recent works.

Lisa Robinson: A small, curated selection of her unique pieces.

Cynthia Kenny: We'll have a small collection of her previously unseen works, after the success of Wakefield Museums Exhibition.

8pm - 11pm: Open Mic Night

The stage is yours!

We're inviting all local musicians, poets, and bands to get involved.

The Art Exchange CIC is a not-for-profit organisation, and we rely on the support of our incredible community to keep our doors open and our classes affordable.

To help ensure the continuation of our work and our subsidised classes, we're holding a raffle!

Would you or your business be able to donate a prize for our raffle? Your contribution, no matter how big or small, would be a huge help and a wonderful way to get some great exposure for your business.

Every ticket sold will go directly toward supporting local artists and providing accessible art to the people of Wakefield.
