Please don't forget our annual Joyce Swann Coffee Morning next Saturday (7th Feb) at the Sandal Methodist Church, Barnsley Road from 10-12 noon. We remember Joyce and hold the event at the Methodist Church because she was a regular worshiper here.

In 1982, Barbara Wain, Phyllis Chapman, Joyce Swann, Olive Carley and Joan O'Leary (not pictured) came together with the vision to build a hospice for the Wakefield community, a vision which was realised in 1990 and which has helped to support thousands of families ever since.

On Saturday we will be celebrating some incredible women, without whom, the Wakefield Hospice would not be here. Please come and join us and support this worthy cause. Thank you.

All the Wakefield volunteers were invited to a Christmas celebration at the Hospice this afternoon. It was an opportunity for us to mix with other volunteers and to hear about new initiatives coming our way.

Our brand-new Unit G shop will officially open on Saturday 6th December!

Unit G is an exciting new venture for us, based right next to the Donation Centre, and designed to offer a fresh, modern shopping experience with a huge range of high-quality donated stock. It’s a big step forward for the retail team and a fantastic opportunity to raise even more funds for patient care.

All systems are go preparing for our annual Christmas Coffee Morning on Friday 14 November at Sandal Rugby Club. We just had to share this news with you. Here is Lyn an active member of our Sandal fundraising team completing the Abseil Challenge, a 161‘ descent down the side of Wakefield Cathedral. We are so proud of her achievement and for raising a fantastic £360 for the Wakefield Hospice. Lyn said “so glad I did it for such a great charity” and Lyn sends “a massive thanks to friends and family for their kind donations”. Well done Lyn, you are a super star!

Everything is better shared with friends and here are some of our fundraisers enjoying an afternoon tea together this week. It was also a great photo opportunity to celebrate raising a whopping £2182.65 at the recent ABBA evening.
