Massage creates positive benefits that go beyond injury recovery.

Massage is known to release positive hormones such as serotonin and dopamine and decrease your cortisol levels in the body. It means you'll be calm and feel more positive after regular massages.

Regular sports massages can improve your sleep. From reducing stress and anxiety, massage improves general wellbeing, allowing you to relax and reduce sleep disturbances.

Regular sports massages can help you become aware of self care. We can't pour from an empty cup. To refil your cup, you need to take care of yourself. Massage is perfect for this!

Reduction in pain and increased movement can help you become more productive at work, smash your goals in the gym, and be able to run around after the kids or grandkids in the park.

I use techniques of massage and stretching to increase relaxation and release muscle tension and stress.

Now that the new school year is about to start, get yourself booked in!

Back pain or knee pain? Check this stretch out!

Quadriceps are situated on the front of the thigh and is made up of four muscles.
Stretching these muscles can help relieve back pain and knee pain.

Quadriceps are part of the hip flexor group and attach from the hip all the way to just below the knee.

Having tight or short quads can cause lower back pain by pulling the pelvis into an anterior pelvic tilt and can limit movement in the lower back.

Tight quads can also put pressure over the patella and cause knee pain. This is because the patella is not tracking correctly through the groves and rubs the bones and tendons the wrong way. This can cause irritation and inflammation.

Keeping the quadriceps healthy through stretching, strengthening and a healthy balanced diet will help keep the pain away and increase range of movement through the joints.

Feel the stretch in the front of the thigh and hold for up to a minute and repeat on the other leg.

Book yourself a sports massage with us to keep your quads healthy and keep back or knee pain at bay!

Your sciatica symptoms could be piriformis syndrome or Hamstring syndrome!

Pain in the buttock and pain or tingling that can go down the back of the leg are very similar symptoms to sciatica but does not originate in the lumbar spine but deep within the buttock.

There's a deep muscle called the piriformis. It helps stabilise the hip, external rotation and abduction and extension of the hip.

The irritation of the sciatic nerve occurs when the piriformis muscle compresses on the nerve.

This can happen when:
- Sitting too long,
- Over use over the muscle,
- Rapid increase of activity or training,
- Trauma to the muscle,

πŸ™Œ Personalised sport massage therapy can help by releasing muscle tension in and around the hip, improve flexibility of the muscle and increase joint mobility.

Therapy can get you moving and back to doing what you love! Running around with the kids, playing your favourite sport or simply getting through work so you don't have to take time off work due to back pain.

πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸƒπŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ 6 Easy Ways To Reduce Your Knee Pain And Keep You Running!πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸƒπŸƒβ€βž‘οΈ

1
STRETCH YOUR QUADS
Knee pain can often be related to overused quadriceps. Overusing your quads can place a huge amount of stress through the knee cap and patella tendon, which, over time it can increase irritation and pain. Stretching your quads is an easy way to
knee pressure and reduce pain during running.
2
INVEST TIME IN YOUR WARMUPS
Overlooked and underrated, this important component to your training programme is an easy way to increase blood flow, improve brain to muscle connections, and increase your overall running efficiency. Ignoring a 5 minute warmup can leave you muscle β€œcold” and cause stress in the knees.
3
STRENGTHEN YOUR CALVES
There is an important connection between strong calves and running pain-free. Strong calves not only reduces your run times but takes pressure off your kneecap and tendons. Performing heel/calf raises and toe walks is an easy way to build strength in the calves.
4
ADJUSTING YOUR RUNNING PROGRAMME
Reducing your weekly milage or changing your running methods such as a run/walk instead of the constant pace can help your pain subside, keep irritation down and reduce recovery time.
5
MOBILISE YOUR HIPS
Hips are most likely the main culprit to lower limb injuries. Focus on improving flexibility in your glutes, adductors and hip flexor group muscles. Stretching these groups off, will set you up for an easier run, allowing your hips to be utilised and reducing stress from your knees. The Pidgeon pose is a great hip opener and stretches the glutes too!
6
ANALISE YOUR MOVEMENT WITH AN EXPERT
Not all knee pain is the same. To ensure complete recovery and return you to doing what you love, find a specialist who can test your range of movement, strength tests and create a bespoke treatment plan to help you and your needs. Regular sports massage treatments can keep you running at your best.

For quicker recovery from injury, maintenance massages to keep you running at your best, drop me a message to get booked in.
