Cacao Series Day 4️⃣
Why cacao feels different to coffee ☕️
This is one of the most common misunderstandings about cacao…
Many people assume the feeling they experience is similar to caffeine. ❌
But the “cacao high” isn’t actually caffeine.
Cacao does contain a small amount of caffeine, but the primary compound at work is something called theobromine.
Theobromine affects the body in a very different way. 💚
Rather than strongly stimulating the central nervous system (like caffeine does), theobromine works more through the cardiovascular system, gently increasing blood flow and oxygenation throughout the body.
This is why cacao often feels…
❤more grounding than jittery
❤more open than intense
❤more steady than sharp
Instead of a sudden spike in energy, you may notice a gradual, sustained lift.
Many people describe it as a warmth spreading through the chest, a soft clarity in the mind, or a subtle sense of upliftment that doesn’t overwhelm the system.
Because it is gentler, cacao is less likely to create the common side effects associated with caffeine, such as anxiety, restlessness, or a crash afterwards.
And this is what makes it so supportive for practices like meditation, mantra, and ceremony. ❤
You remain awake and present, without being pulled into overstimulation.
It’s not a “high” in the usual sense…
More a softening into awareness, supported by the body. ❤
When approached with intention, this quality of cacao can help create a space that feels both grounded and open, a beautiful foundation for inner work.
