An early start this morning as I head to London to meet the team and do some CPD. As BAcC members Helen and I have to complete a minimum of 30 hours a year study and submit it to them. There is always so much I want to do that it does not feel like a chore. We have both already done an Endo course this year and have plans for the rest of the years learning too. Hope the sunrise is just as beautiful wherever you are.

Thanks, Catherine 😊

During your first acupuncture treatment, you can expect the following:

✨ For your first session to be up to an hour in length
✨ Some paperwork detailing your full medical history and initial treatment (please bring a list of your current medication if applicable)
✨ Your pulse will be taken on each wrist and your tongue will be observed as this forms part of the picture of your current health.

Once we have discussed your current and past health you will be invited to settle on the couch. Fine, sterile single-use needles are placed in specific points on your body, often the arms and legs but can also be in other places too. Patients rarely find needles painful and often don't feel the needles are in. Needles are usually left in for about 20 minutes whilst you rest.

The needles will be removed and you will pay for your treatment. We will discuss your treatment plan and book any follow-up appointments needed. You may feel more tired for the rest of the day and should rest if you can. Many patients find treatment deeply relaxing and can feel calmer and more balanced afterwards. When performed by a qualified practitioner Acupuncture is safe and has virtually no side effects.

We hope you found this helpful. If you'd like to find out more about Acupuncture, or would like to book an appointment, please get in touch via the contact details below...

Weekend walking in the sunshine! I am sure my patients coming into clinic this week will be relieved that I am no longer moaning about the constant rain we have been having and instead will be waffling on about how lovely the weather was on Sunday! I hope everyone else managed to enjoy some sunshine too. Such an uplift and a sign that Spring is just around the corner. Long may it last.
Thanks, Catherine. 😊

Helen has been with us now for 3 months, so I asked her how she had found her first 1/4 year as an Acupuncturist here in Wakefield and this is what she said:

"The first 3 months working alongside Catherine at Wakefield Osteopaths have flownn by so quickly. I have found it really rewarding meeting new patients and being a part of their healing journey."

I also asked her what conditions she has been treating and she said:

"The most common complaint has been pain. I have treated a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions including both long term chronic conditions and some more recent acute cases. This has included back, neck and shoulder pain and also elbows and knees. I have also seen patients suffering with migraines."

Helen has been a real asset since she came on board. Patients comment on her lovely, kind and calming nature.

If you want to see more about Helen visit my website on the link in my bio and take a look. She has availability in Wakefield on a Tuesday and Friday afternoon.

Thanks, Catherine 😊

I have been busy this month starting work on the Northern College of Acupuncture's Nutritional Diploma. One of the things it has reminded me of is that how we eat is important, as well as what we eat.

So, whilst it is important to eat good quality, nutrient dense foods, here are some things you can think about and try to incorporate when it comes to how to eat.

*Eat more slowly and chewing your food well.
*Taking time to sit rather than grab and go.
*Leave at least 2-3 hours after your last meal of the day before going to bed.
*Good posture when eating is important.
*Don't eat too much or too little (balance!)
*Prioritise warm foods, particularly in cold months.
*Avoid excess raw, cold and Damp foods.
*Don't swamp your Stomach with fluid just before a meal.

So next time you sit down to eat, have a think about how you are eating and try to incorporate as many of the above as you can. Your digestion will thank you!!

Thanks, Catherine.

The little cupboard shelf in clinic is getting quite full now, and I feel very blessed to be gifted such wonderful items. The new addition is a Quartz Crystal Tree, and the little slip with it tells us what it is for.

Perfect for an Acupuncture clinic then! Thank you to the person who gave me this, so kind.

Happy Friday everyone, hope you are having a good day, whatever you are doing.

Thanks, Catherine.
