New research published linking deficiency of two specific strains of gut bacteria in those with CFS, may be another piece of the puzzle to this complex condition.
The good news is that theses two strains - faecalibacterium prausnitzii and eubacterium rectale - can be measured in a simple stool test.
If anyone would like to test their poo and find out if they are deficient or depleted entirely of these strains of bacteria, get in touch with me now.

Yummy breakfast this Friday morning 😋

I’m often asked about protein-rich, grain-free breakfast ideas and it’s such an important meal to get right, so I’m sharing mine for inspiration.

My breakfast here includes a slice of Dr Sarah Myhill’s homemade PK (Paleo/Keto) bread, homemade dairy-free coleslaw with loads of garlic, smoked salmon, a leafy salad drizzled with olive oil and a big chunk of beetroot.
Whilst I recommend eating smoked salmon as a treat, you can easily swap this out for sardines or mackerel, an egg or some fried tofu.

I’d love to hear / see your yummy Friday breakfast ideas 😊

Anxiety is an extremely common symptom of Chronic Fatigue, the underlying causes often deep-rooted in genetics, childhood and other adverse life experiences. Like everything with chronic fatigue it can be a complicated web, intertwined with many other symptoms.

I know I have genetic variances which make me more susceptible to anxiety (these are extremely common by the way) - by supporting our mind and body we can be empowered to take control of our anxiety.

Message me to book a free call if you’re suffering with anxiety and want to take back control!

This weekend has been the annual rhubarb festival in Wakefield - famously known for being part of the “Rhubarb Triangle”.

Rhubarb is actually a vegetable, not a fruit, and as well as being high in fibre (great for feeding a healthy gut microbiome, keeping the bowels moving and ensuring the safe elimination of toxins, hormones and cholesterol), it’s also rich in vitamin K (needed for healthy bones and blood clotting), vitamin C, A, calcium, potassium, magnesium and folate. It also contains those all-important anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial and cancer-fighting antioxidants which help to protect our body from disease-causing free radicals!

Do you need any further convincing? Go and get some fresh rhubarb and treat yourself to a crumble and custard 😉😋

I’m a big fan of mindfulness for chronic fatigue - it’s not an easy skill to learn for some people but one we should really prioritise as it has so many benefits for the body and mind.

The benefits accumulative over time, the more you manage to live in a mindful way, and science has shown regular practise can change our neuronal pathways, something called Neuroplasticity, helping to remap all those negative thoughts, leaving us with a calmer mind.

Getting outside for a walk in the fresh air each morning is great for our mood and mental health, helps calm the stress response, promotes better sleep and is a great form of exercise.

Build up slowly and don’t overdo it - on the days your energy is really depleted just sitting outside with a cuppa or opening the bedroom window if you’re in a crash phase gives you access to the fresh air and will be doing you good.

I’m so grateful to have the countryside on my doorstep but if that’s not you, is there a local park you have access to, a garden or outside space where you can create a peaceful and calm environment to just sit and be mindful?
