Today we say farewell to our absolutely wonderful nurse Kayleigh Rowe 💫
We have a saying of “every team needs a Kayleigh” for a reason! She has been an incredible part of our team. Her support, compassion, and dedication to young people with diabetes has helped make a real difference. 🙌
We wish her the best of luck with relocating up North! She will be greatly missed. 🍀

The Diabetes UK family events are really fun and valuable experience for young people with type 1 diabetes and their families! 💙🙌

Jenny Coupland, Dietitian, and Dr Mai Ali, St6 at Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust, both volunteered at last weekend’s “Super Saturday” event! After a busy day, they found it very rewarding to hear how much families appreciated the event. 🥰

🌟 Goodbye and Thank You Steph 🌟

We want to say a huge thank you to Steph Waters for everything she has done as our nursing associate. Steph has supported so many children, young people and families with her care, kindness and dedication 💙

Steph is now heading back to study to become a fully qualified nurse and we could not be prouder ✨

You will be very much missed by the diabetes team and the families you have helped 💜

Our South Asian group is a safe space that welcomes our young people living with diabetes and their families 💙
Always lots of friendly conversations over a cup of tea! ☕️
This week saw Shaeen Hussain, Senior Diabetic Clinic Assistant, along with Jenny, Dietitian and Courtney and Katie, Student Dietitians sharing tips on carb counting, exercise, insulin pumps, healthy eating and more! 🍽️🏃🏻‍♂️📲
🗓️ Next date: Friday 2nd January 2026, location to be announced (this is in school holidays and will include the hot topic of Ramadan ☪️)

📢 Diabetes UK Type 1 Super Saturday! 💙

This brand-new, one-day family event is designed for children aged 0–11 with type 1 diabetes and their families.
Each event will include a structured programme tailored to different groups:
• Children and young people with type 1 aged 0–11
• Their siblings aged 0-16
• Parents and carers

2025 Event Details:
📍Where: An activity centre near Doncaster, South Yorkshire
🗓️When: Saturday 11th October- Families arrive by 10am and depart at 5.30pm

These events are free of charge for families. If your registration is randomly selected and your place is confirmed, we’ll ask for a £5 deposit to reserve your place, which will be refunded after you attend. If this deposit would be a barrier for your family, our team can help.
