💉 Our maternity service offers both drop-in and bookable sessions for Pertussis and RSV vaccinations throughout the year, plus the Flu vaccination from October to March, conveniently available in our hospital antenatal clinics.

Getting vaccinated during pregnancy is a safe and effective way to help protect both you and your baby from serious illness. Vaccines such as Pertussis (whooping cough) and RSV provide your baby with vital protection in their first weeks of life, when they are most vulnerable.

📌 Please note: the clinic at Pontefract Hospital on Monday 22 September will not be running.

✅ To book an appointment, please speak to your community midwife, or drop in at one of the following clinics as shown below.

Thank you for your feedback on our idea for a new Q&A with a midwife feature 💬

You told us you loved the idea, and asked for the sessions to be held in the evening with the chance to ask questions live - so we’ve listened.

Our first Facebook Live Q&A will take place on Wednesday 8 October at 5pm with our brilliant midwife, Amy. She’ll be answering your questions on pregnancy, birth, postnatal care and more.

If you’d like to send in a question in advance, that's fine too. Just drop us a message starting with 'Q&A with Amy'.

We’ll be running these sessions every few months, so this is your chance to get answers straight from the experts!

💙 This week is week, an important campaign designed to educate us on how we can prevent asthma deaths and improve care for children and young people.

It highlights 4 simple but vital steps for families to help manage asthma:
✅ Have an asthma action plan in place
✅ Use inhalers correctly
✅ Get a yearly asthma review (and after every attack)
✅ Be mindful of air pollution

In sharing this post, you can share knowledge and support better care for children and young people living with asthma.

This , Amy said: "I would really like to express my utter most appreciation to all the staff who helped and guided myself and my husband through the birth of our daughter.

"After 2 amazing water births, I was adamant I wanted another, however, that didn’t go to plan. Due to persistent bleeding, I needed to be monitored. My wonderful midwife on the labour ward, Claire Astbury, made my birth such an amazing experience.

"The care we received was above and beyond - she was the best cheerleader, support, and such a caring woman. She guided me through the unknown of delivering without being in a birth pool, and our daughter made a very quick entrance into the world. It was a total whirlwind but Claire made me feel like I was superwoman, where in my opinion, it is her that deserves that title. A true credit to Pinderfields maternity unit."
