It can be tough for children with a parent in prison. Nepacs staff and volunteers support children and families visiting prisons in the north east, provide support for children and plan special family play days and visits. Fun, food and craft activities provide positive family memories throughout the year and at Christmas.
These special family visits promote positive, secure attachments between the child and the parent in prison. It offers reassurance that their parent is OK and still loves them, this is key to the child being able to cope with their experience.
The Big Give Christmas Challenge means that every donation they receive during this time will be doubled. If you can help them to reach their target, your gift will be worth twice as much.

Our Big Give Christmas Challenge appeal is now live!
From noon 2 December to 9 December 2025, we are taking part in the Big Give Christmas Challenge to raise funds towards our special family visits, play and youth areas across all north east prisons.
Please get involved and support our campaign by making an online donation during the appeal.
The Big Give Christmas Challenge means that every donation we receive during this time will be doubled. If you can help us to reach our target (£2,000), your gift will be worth twice as much, and help us raise £4,000 in total.
Every pound raised during the Big Give Christmas Challenge appeal will be used specifically to support children and families with a loved one in prison in the north east by enabling us to deliver a range of special visits - including parent/child, extended play days, family learning visits etc.
