"Social Prescribing is just a prescription to the gym" ❌

✔️ Social prescribing is a personalised plan created with the individual and physical activity can be part of it, but on a wider scale it offers support based on the person's needs and could include arts, nature, education, social groups, financial advice, faith groups and much more.

We’re delighted to share that HMP & YOI Low Newton has been praised in a recently published inspection report.

Inspectors highlighted the prison’s strong leadership and positive culture, alongside the impressive support provided to women in its care.

Of particular note was the healthcare team, recognised for delivering high-quality medical and therapeutic interventions — especially for women recovering from substance misuse. This vital work is making a meaningful difference.

Women spoke highly of the compassion, patience and consistency shown by staff, with many reporting significant improvements in their wellbeing and confidence since arriving.

This recognition reflects the dedication and professionalism of colleagues across the establishment — an achievement everyone involved should be proud of.
