As a practice, we are working hard to improve our systems and reduce waiting times for appointments. This is an ongoing challenge faced by many services across the NHS, and it requires the support and cooperation of both staff and patients.

One of the most significant factors and easily fixed factors affecting appointment availability is the current level of “Did Not Attend” (DNA) appointments within the practice.

DNA data (16 January – 16 February):

Nurses/HCA appointments: 20 hours lost

GP appointments: 34 hours lost

This represents a substantial amount of clinical time that could have been used to support other patients in need of care. At a time when demand for services is high, this level of missed appointments is not sustainable and contributes directly to longer waiting times for everyone.

We kindly ask all patients to inform us as soon as possible if they are unable to attend their appointment. Cancelling in advance allows us to offer that time to another patient who may be waiting for care.

Appointments can be cancelled in several ways:

Replying to the automated text message reminder

Using Airmid or the NHS App to cancel remotely

Calling the surgery to cancel

Your support in reducing missed appointments makes a significant difference to the service we can provide and helps ensure timely access to care for all patients.

We are making improvements/renovations to our waiting room. Whilst we undergo this process the waiting room will be very dusty. We are making all attempts to clean all chairs and touchpoint during this time

A kind reminder to our patients that the practice will close at 12:00 noon this Thursday for NHS Staff Target Training. We will only have the morning emergency clinic and if you need medical help in the afternoon please call 111 or for urgent help call 999. Thank you for your understanding.

A kind reminder that it takes 7 days for your blood test results to be processed. We will only contact you if there is something to discuss. You can ring the surgery after 7 days to check or alternatively you can register with our online services and view the results there. Thank you for your understanding.

We are experiencing some IT issues at the surgery at the moment. Due to this our phone lines are not working properly. The engineer is now on site and we are hoping to get this fixed as soon as possible. If your issue is not urgent please phone us back tomorrow. Thank you for your patience.

Upon arrival of a new baby please don't forget to register them at your local GP practice to ensure they receive their 6-8 week check and immunisations on time. You can pick up a new registration form at reception or register them online. Once registered you can call the surgery on 0113 253 7628 to book your appointments.

Please don't ignore your mammogram screening invites. You'll automatically get your first invite for breast screening between the ages of 50 and 53. Then you'll be invited every 3 years until you turn 71.

If you're a trans man, trans woman or are non-binary you may be invited automatically, or you may need to talk to your GP surgery or call the local breast screening service to ask for an appointment.

You need to be registered with a GP surgery to be invited for breast screening.
