The Wakefield Children's Observation Hub provided an innovative approach to enhanced access paediatric care in the Wakefield District. The service was set up to help address winter pressures both in primary and secondary care.

The service was very well received by clinicians and parents and carers alike. One of the main themes of feedback from service users was the degree of reassurance provided by the Observation Hub, particularly through the use of the day pass system.

We recently reposted a news release from the Wakefield District Health and Care Partnership which highlighted a collaborative project in the Wakefield District to increase the uptake of childhood vaccinations in hard to reach communities.

The graphic below provides more detail of this innovative project which delivered support for patients, practices, primary car networks and employees.

The importance of this work could not be more pertinent with children returning to school in the next couple of weeks and the increase in prevalence of measles, mumps and rubella.
