Wakefield Came Together for World Mental Health Day ๐ฉต๐
Last Friday, we welcomed the community to the brilliant WX Wakefield for Wakefield Mental Health Day to raise awareness, share stories, and support one another - and what a success it was!
The event brought together over 50 local services, offering everything from mental health support and physical health checks to creative activities and community resources. With live coverage from Rhubarb Radio and a vibrant, welcoming atmosphere, the venue was alive with energy, connection, and purpose.
Highlights included:
โข A powerful session with Steve Phillip, who shared his personal story and announced The Jordan Legacyโs new partnership with The Royal Foundation.
โข An emotional talk from Briony Hallas, who spoke about the therapeutic power of art and invited attendees to co-create a beautiful art tree, filled with messages of hope.
โข A thought-provoking presentation from Muhammad, who introduced our Turning Point's Speaking Without Stigma Mental Health guide - sharing how language can shape our understanding of mental health.
The atmosphere was electric - the conversations, the stories, the sense of belonging. People didnโt just show up, they showed up for each other.
A huge thank you to everyone who made the day possible - our partners, stallholders, speakers, volunteers, and every single person who came through the doors. You made it what it was.
Weโre so proud of what we achieved together and canโt wait to build on this momentum. Letโs keep the conversation going - because mental health matters every day ๐ฉต
