A reminder to S L E E P 💤
Sleeping = Healing
So, the word hypnosis comes from Hypnos, the ancient Greek god of sleep.
However, hypnosis is not literally being asleep. It’s more like a daydream 🦋
In hypnosis, your mind remains curious, focused & in control, while your body rests.
Brainwaves move into the super calm states we experience just before drifting into sleep or during deep meditation, the mind becomes open to insight, suggestion and solutions.
Sleep is one of the most powerful natural healers. When we sleep, the brain doesn’t switch off, it becomes incredibly active in restoring and reorganising itself.
During deep sleep, the brain clears metabolic waste, like a nightly “clean-up crew.” At the same time, brain chemicals rebalance, such as serotonin, dopamine, and GABA regulating mood, motivation, and calm.
Cortisol (our stress hormone) drops, allowing the nervous system to reset. Aahhhh.
Sleep is also when memories and learning come together. The brain quietly reviews the day, strengthening good connections and releasing what is no longer needed. This is why we can wake with sudden clarity or a new perspective.
AND there’s a reason people say “sleep on it.” The phrase is an old proverb that’s been used for centuries, encouraging us to pause and allow the mind time to process before making BIG decisions.
A World Sleep Day reminder that rest is PRODUCTIVE.
Kids, when you’re doing exams, assessments & dissertations, Sleep!
Sleep restores brain chemistry, regulates emotions and allows the deep mind to quietly work things out.
Sometimes the best thing we can do is rest… and trust the mind to do its magic overnight.
What could you give yourself permission to “sleep on” tonight?
Sleep nice
