At Thurston, we’re passionate about developing the next generation of talent in modular manufacturing.

Maisie, one of our welding apprentices in Wakefield, is learning her craft alongside some of the best in the business — gaining hands-on experience and mentorship every step of the way.

“My apprenticeship means I can learn the fundamentals of welding whilst getting real, practical experience,” says Maisie. “It’s work that takes time to master, and I’m finding it really valuable to work alongside people who’ve been doing it for years.”

We’re proud to be creating opportunities for young people to build lifelong careers — and we’re always looking for experienced welders who want to pass their skills on to the next generation.

Following last month’s support for World Mental Health Day, our Wakefield team last week welcomed Andys Man Club for an open session on men’s mental health.

The session created a safe, supportive space for honest conversation — encouraging colleagues to talk, listen, and look out for one another.

A huge thank you to everyone who took part and helped make the afternoon such a success. Sessions at our other sites will follow soon, continuing our commitment to making Thurston a place where it’s always okay to talk.
