We’re lacing up our boots and stepping up to the challenge!

On Saturday 27 September 2025, the Thurston Trailblazers will join our valued client Wernick Group Limited to take on the Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge — a 24-mile hike with a 5,000 ft vertical ascent, all in one day.

This year’s challenge is in support of Kidney Research UK, the UK’s largest charity dedicated to transforming kidney health. Kidney disease destroys lives, treatments are gruelling, and right now there is no cure. Every step we take helps bring us closer to the day kidney disease ends here.

🗞️ We’re pleased to welcome Steve Smith as the new General Manager of Storplan.

Storplan, based in York, design and manufacture specialist racking and storage systems for the distribution, logistics and retail sectors - and Steve is joining to help take the business into its next chapter of growth.

With almost four years’ experience at a leading distribution firm, where he oversaw 500+ staff and major warehouse operations, Steve brings a wealth of expertise to the team.

He’ll be working closely with our Thurston Group Production Director, Dan Pollard, to unlock new opportunities and realise Storplan’s full potential.

Today we say a big thank you and farewell to Ruby, who has completed a 7-week placement with our commercial team.

Since joining us in June, Ruby has made a real impact — from sending enquiries to subcontractors and managing the Enhanced Level 1 process for a key project, to collecting and uploading inspection data to demonstrate the quality of our modules.

Her professionalism, enthusiasm, and willingness to get stuck in have been a real asset to the team — and we’re delighted to share that she’s just been awarded Temp of the Month by the Juice Personnel Limited team that placed her! 🏆

We’ve had the pleasure of welcoming work experience students to our Wakefield and Hull sites over the past few weeks - and what a brilliant bunch they’ve been.

From getting stuck into hands-on tasks in our factories to shadowing teams across design, production, and sales, they’ve had a genuine taste of life at Thurston.

Thurston Group strengthens team to enhance operational excellence 💪

We’re pleased to confirm Hayley Richardson as our new Operations Director, following a successful interim period with the business.

Hayley now leads a newly structured senior team focused on design and technical, commercial, construction, and pre-construction – ensuring we’re set up to deliver at pace, raise standards, and drive operational excellence across every part of the business.

This is a key step in our ambition to reach £100m turnover within six years, as we continue building the leadership and capability needed to scale.

💪Our Payroll Manager, Craig Wolfenden, and his team have raised an incredible £2,205 after their Big Golf Race event recently!

Playing 72 holes of golf to raise money on behalf of Prostate Cancer UK, Craig and his team walked an amazing 51,000 steps (25 miles!) over the 16-hour day.

The team started the challenge at 4:30am, and played all the way through till 8:30pm in the warm sunshine. ☀️

1 in 8 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetimes, with every donation bringing us closer to a future where fewer families face this battle.

A huge thank you to everyone who has donated over the past few weeks! Each contribution is massively appreciated in the fight against cancer.
