Being a mum to my three amazing girls has been a wild, beautiful adventure. They're not just growing up; we're all growing together. It's funny how, in helping them find their strength, I've stumbled upon my own. Today, on International Women's Day, let's raise a cheer for the messy, real, everyday strength of motherhood. It's not always glamorous, but it sure is powerful. To all the mums out there, you're stronger than you think! 💪🌼👩‍👧‍👧

Fitness is often thought of as a competitive endeavor, with people striving to be better than others. However, this mentality misses the true essence of fitness: it's not about being better than someone else, but rather about being better than you used to be.

When you focus on comparing yourself to others, you're setting yourself up for disappointment and frustration. There will always be someone stronger, faster, or more flexible than you. But that doesn't mean you're not making progress or that you're not improving.

The only person you should be comparing yourself to is yourself. Are you stronger than you were last month? Can you run a little further or lift a little more weight than you could before? Are you able to do a yoga pose that used to be impossible for you? These are the types of questions you should be asking yourself.

Fitness is a journey, not a destination. It's a process of continuous improvement. The goal is not to be perfect, but to be better than you were yesterday. This mindset not only helps you stay motivated, but it also helps you appreciate the progress you've made.

Another benefit of focusing on your own progress is that it allows you to celebrate your achievements without feeling the need to diminish someone else's. Instead of feeling jealous or resentful of someone else's success, you can be happy for them and also proud of your own progress.

So, the next time you're working out, remember that you're not in competition with anyone else. The only person you're competing with is yourself. Celebrate your progress, no matter how small, and keep pushing yourself to be better than you used to be.

Sleep can have a massive overall impact on our health.

How is your sleep currently?

You really shouldn't underestimate getting enough hours of good quality sleep (7-9 hours recommended) 😴

Sleep deprivation causes havoc to physically and mental health, contributing to hormone imbalances. Some symptoms of sleep deprivation may include:

😴Difficulty to loose weight
😴Constant hunger
😴Poor coordination
😴Increased levels of anxiety, irritability and low mood
😴Increased stress levels
😴Poor concentration

If you struggle to get good sleep try to:

🫶Form a good sleep pattern (consistent wake and sleep time) Try to wake up when the sun rises
🫶Create an optimal sleeping environment (optimal room temperature, dark room, minimise noise pollution)
🫶Minimise light exposure in the evening (dim lamps rather over head lights)
🫶Minimise TV and devise use a night
🫶Get some morning light exposure (natural light)
🫶Some studies have shown that morning exercise can be optimal to promote good sleep. However, exercise alone at any time is better than none.
🫶Avoid eating late at night - reduce caffeine and alcohol, particularly in he afternoon and evening

When it comes to fitness, it can be easy to get caught up in fad diets and quick-fix workout plans. However, the truth is that there is no magic pill or overnight solution to achieving a healthy and fit lifestyle. The most effective "hack" to getting and staying fit is actually quite simple: consistency...

Consistency is key when it comes to achieving any long-term goal, and fitness is no exception. Consistently working out and eating a balanced diet are the building blocks of a healthy lifestyle. It's not about going hard for a week or two and then giving up; it's about committing to making sustainable changes over time.

One of the biggest obstacles to consistency is the idea that results should come quickly. We live in a society that values instant gratification, and many people expect to see significant changes in their bodies after just a few workouts or healthy meals. Real progress takes time and dedication.

It's important to remember that fitness is not a sprint, it's a marathon. You won't see results overnight, but if you stay consistent, you will see progress over time. Trusting the process and staying committed to your goals, even when you're not seeing immediate results, is crucial.

Another key is finding a routine that works for you. There's no one-size-fits-all approach to fitness, and what works for one person may not work for another. Experiment with different types of workouts and find a routine that you enjoy and can stick to.

It's important to remember that consistency doesn't mean perfection. There will be days when you don't feel like working out or when you indulge in an unhealthy meal. That's ok! The key is to stay consistent in the long run and not let minor setbacks derail your progress.

The most effective "hack" to achieving and maintaining a healthy and fit lifestyle is consistency. Trust the process, commit to sustainable changes over time, and find a routine that works for you.
