Anne sadly passed away on Saturday 2nd May 2026, aged 75 years at Pinderfields Hospital in Wakefield surrounded by her loving family, Anne was a resident of Hemsworth in Pontefract.

Anne was a loving Wife to Ken, she was a loving mother to Lee and Julie, she was a loving Nanna to Laura,Lauren,Jess and Josh and a loving Nannie to all her great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
She will be dearly missed by all her family and friends.

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of (Arthur) John Wallace. A much loved father, grandfather, and friend, John will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
The funeral service will take place on Friday 15th May at 2:50 pm at Barnsley Crematorium, Doncaster Road, S71 5EH.
Donations in lieu of flowers are welcome and may be made to the MS Society.
Following the service, the wake will be held at The Woodlands Restaurant, Burntwood Court Hotel, Common Road, Brierley, S72 9ET where everyone is warmly invited to attend and share memories of a truly exceptional gent.

Malcolm was a loving Husband to his late wife Linda, he was a loving Dad to Steven Johnson, Martin Johnson and Richard Johnson. He was the proudest Grandad in the world to Jessy Johnson and Tylah Johnson, and even prouder of his great-grandchildren, Francesca Sharp, Phoenix Johnson and Pixie Heatley.

Job Vacancy: Funeral Service Operative

***Previous experience is essential. ***

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Funeral Service Operative to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong sense of empathy and be committed to providing an excellent service to grieving families.

Salary: £24,932.20 per annum (Approx. – Based on the applicant being over the age of 21 years) – This is made up of a basic salary of £23,132.20 plus an on-call retainer of £1,800 per annum)

This a permanent, full-time vacancy (subject to the successful completion of a 6 month probationary period).

Location: The Newstead Chapel of Rest, Newstead Lane, Havercroft, Wakefield, West Yorkshire, WF4 2HW

Working pattern: Normal working hours are Monday – Friday, 9.00am – 4.00pm with the flexibility to work variable hours as required to support the business.

** This may include evenings, weekends and working on public bank holidays. **

Requirement to take part in the on-call rota (1 week in 3 – *subject to change*)

A full clean driving licence is essential.

Key Responsibilities (Will include but not limited to)
• Provide dignified and professional care for the deceased.
• Support Funeral Directors in delivering seamless customer service and the successful funeral service.
• Drive and operate specialist vehicles (including hearses, limousines and private ambulances).
• Maintaining high standards of presentation for vehicles and facilities and ensuring they are well-maintained.
• Participate in an out-of-hours on-call rota (including nights/weekends) to support families - providing out-of-hours support, including dignified collection and transfer of the deceased into our care.
• Transport the deceased into our care from the place of death — including private homes, hospitals, hospices, or public spaces — under varying circumstances.
• Prepare the deceased (washing, dressing, presentation) in accordance with family, religious, or cultural wishes.
• Support with chapel visits and interactions with families in a calm and respectful manner.
• Carry out all duties involving the deceased with the utmost care and professionalism.
• Ensure all legal documentation and paperwork is completed accurately following the company guidelines and procedures.
