Hi all..
A review from a client who wishes to stay anomous.....

I've suffered from sciatica in my left leg for several years, only eased temporarily with physiotherapy, but it always returned. Someone suggested the Bowen Technique and, although sceptical initially, but feeling I had nothing to lose, I made an appointment to see Sarah Baglin. On arrival I was nervous but Sarah put me at ease, and explained what was going to happen. I couldn't believe that simple rolling moves over muscles and tendons followed by short breaks would actually work in breaking old habits and relearning techniques. But it did! I found it all so relaxing and even fell asleep! My sciatica did not return and I have since visited Sarah to sort out other problems. She is so understanding and sympathetic, never rushes through treatments. It is like visiting an old friend!

Thank you for your lovely review....

I've got arthritis in my neck, so I often deal with pain and stiffness that makes moving around tough. Some days, it feels like just turning my head is a challenge, and I never know how much flexibility I'll have. It affects more than just my neck—my whole body feels a bit out of sorts because of it.

But since I started Bowen therapy with Sarah, things have changed for the better. The pain isn't as constant or intense anymore, and it’s easier for me to move not just my neck, but all over. I feel more flexible and comfortable in my day-to-day life. The aches and pains I used to get everywhere have eased up. I notice a big difference compared to before—the therapy has made life a lot more manageable, and I feel more positive about staying active and doing the things I enjoy.

In essence, the Bowenwork practitioner is a facilitator, not a manipulator.

By applying the moves, the practitioner gives the body specific neurological signals to relax, and then steps back for a few minutes to allow the body to 'relax itself.'

Compared to many other bodywork techniques, Bowenwork initiates an internal response that stimulates restoration of the body’s equilibrium, rather than an external approach of manipulating areas of tight muscle tension until it is released.

A tight hip can strain the lower back.

A stiff neck can cause jaw pain.

Your body is a network — and Bowen Therapy considers the whole map, not just the trouble spot.

A concept explored in the work of Dr Bessel van der Kolk reminds us that our experiences don’t just live in our thoughts.

They are reflected in the body.

Our bodies are constantly adapting to the pressures and pace of modern life.

When stress becomes ongoing, it can influence how we feel, move and function.

Paying attention to early signs — tension, fatigue, disrupted sleep, feeling “wired” or flat — is part of proactive self-care.

Approaches such as Bowen Therapy aim to work with the nervous system, creating space for the body to settle and reset.

Listening to the body isn’t weakness.
It’s wisdom.

Osteoarthritis is now understood as a whole-joint condition — involving muscles, nerves, joint fluid, connective tissue, and movement patterns, not just cartilage.

That’s why current clinical guidelines increasingly emphasise non-surgical, conservative approaches — particularly movement-based and supportive care — as important early considerations.

Bowen Therapy takes a whole-body perspective, considering how joints are supported, coordinated, and loaded through the rest of the body, rather than focusing on a single joint in isolation.

The body has an extraordinary capacity for self-regulation and balance.

Bowen Therapy is designed to work with that innate intelligence — offering gentle input and then allowing the body time to respond.

Healing isn’t imposed.

It’s invited.

Bodies don't usually fail suddenly — they signal first.

Tightness, fatigue, reduced recovery… these are early signals, not weaknesses.

Bowen Therapy works with the nervous system and fascia — the body’s communication network — supporting balance and adaptability over time, as best it's able.

Listen early. Adjust sooner.

In a season that asks us to do more, remember this:

We can’t heal stress by pushing harder.
Rest is not a reward — it’s a requirement.

Bowen Therapy supports the nervous system to slow down and reset, as best it's able.
