Julie Elizabeth

Julie Elizabeth "All things are meaningless without LOVE." It’s a lot like life; we are conceived in the mind or minds of two people and then created. Dialogue is vital.

I’m sitting here in front of a screen which when I press buttons and letters, words appear; whole paragraphs begin to form a picture. It all seems a natural process, you would think very much an everyday thing that happens and yet it’s miraculous what is created, the uniqueness of every single human being. I have heard folk say that babies are like a blank canvas, so dependent on where and who’s family or nation they are born into will determine a child’s destiny, nature or nurture! I am not about to go down a line of theories, as there are many – even conspiracies to form a superior race or a race that is mindless and is fed information, so that they believe what they are told and become programmed. I believe in the uniqueness of every single person. It’s the same way I feel about art; every piece that is created is unique, formed from a desire to communicate: to speak, engage, relate, impact, influence and instigate. It captures a moment, a single thought or a collection of intricate thought processes; a cacophony of sounds, images, smells, feelings, emotions, experiences, impressions; moments of completely clarity. To define myself as an artist is to say I am one that loves, one that creates, one that is evolving, engaging and embracing all that life has. The diversity of life is out-worked in the work I create. It can be a moment or a detail of something that has captured my eye. Also my work can be my heart’s cry to see a situation change, a gateway into having difficult conversations about issues we would rather hide from or leave to others. I don’t believe in showing the world a mirror or a profound comment from some perceived insight or wisdom. I would rather engage in finding the answer, creating a platform to speak and to listen; a point of entry to begin a journey together in relationship.
