At times when we need others the most, we often retreat and isolate.

And sometimes that's what we need but often it's due to shame and feelings of failure.

If you're reading this and struggling, take it as a reminder that there's someone sending you love & hope across the tinterweb...

For people struggling with their mental health, having family or friends who support them can make the world of difference.

We tend to put the responsibility onto the person suffering, forgetting that things like depression, anxiety and OCD by their nature are isolating and cause people to retreat inwards.

Here are some things you can do to help others

❤️ Check in on people. Even if you don't get a response, keep communicating, let people know that you're thinking of them and you're there when they're ready to talk.

💚 Find out what they're comfortable with in that moment. They might not want to go to a big gathering but they might love for you to visit them and have a cuppa.

💙 Don't assume that everyone will experience situations in the same way. What was easy for you to deal with might be the thing that pushed someone over the edge.

💜 Don't shy away from difficult conversations- you might be the only person in their life willing to be curious about what's happening.

💛 Ask what support they need. Asking for help can be difficult but answering a direct question can take the pressure off.

💙 Be kind and don't judge - there's already a huge amount of stigma around mental health that compounds the problem, don't add to it.

🤎 Research - if someone is struggling with a condition you're not familiar with, take some time to find out about it.

If you're thinking about booking a session but not sure about how I work, here's some things that might help...

⭐️I work online and in Batley, Castleford & Wakefield City Centre
⭐️I always offer a free telephone consultation- this is to make sure I have the right skillset to support you and for you to see if I'm the right fit for you.
⭐️I'm neurodivergent (ADHD) which means I'm super curious and love to solve problems.
⭐️I've faced my own mental health challenges - a big part of why I want to help others.
⭐️I take mental health very seriously but that doesn't mean our sessions can't be fun if that's what you need.
⭐️I tailor all of my sessions to you personally, depending on your needs and wants.
⭐️I want to help as many people as possible and offer a reduced price slot for those who need it.
⭐️I'm an empath - I won't judge you or act like I'm the expert in your life.

I spent the morning with Julian Ellis Sound Therapy learning about how sound healing could be incorporated into 121 sessions with my clients.

And he gifted me this beautiful "rain" rattle 🌧

My brain is buzzing with ideas already 🧠

It can be incredibly helpful to remember that your inner critic, that voice that tells you you're not good enough, you're a failure, you deserve how people have treated you, is not always true and isn't always coming from you.

Our inner voice can be shaped by trauma, abuse and other people's judgement. Which means that we can learn to quiet it, replace it or have a response ready that helps reduce its impact.

This is why therapy, journalling and creative writing can be so powerful. Because we get to hear or see our thoughts and words outside of our mind which helps us makes sense of them.

If you're struggling, here are some tips - you can do these anywhere and at anytime.

• Interrupt the thought - intentionally stop and question it.
• Ask yourself if what you're hearing is what you think or if it originally came from someone else.
• Challenge the thought using evidence.
• Speak to yourself the way you'd talk to someone you love & respect.
• Don't be afraid to get creative - sometimes a "f**k off" can work wonders.

Get in touch if you'd like help with your inner voice 💬

Spending time in nature won't solve all of your problems.
It won't resolve difficult relationships or tidy your house.

But it will help ground your nervous system so you're less stressed when you have to face life's challenges.

If you can't get out today, open a window or stand in your garden if you have one.

WHAT IS A SOUND BATH?

It’s an acoustic sound healing journey using various instruments including sound bowls that allows the listener to enter a meditative state and to feel calm, relaxed, grounded, and focused. You might feel different mental, emotional, and physical sensations throughout the session. It could be like floating on a cloud, feeling peaceful, happy, energized, or relaxed.

Sound healing traces its roots back to ancient civilizations such as Greece, Egypt, and India. These societies believed in the transformative healing power of sound and used methods such as singing bowls, chanting, and tuning forks to promote a harmonious environment for the body to heal itself.

WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING 💫

Bring a yoga mat, a bottle of water and wear comfortable clothes. The goal here is to relax. We have pillows and blankets for use, but if you prefer to feel bring your own or anything you need to help you relax that’s absolutely fine.

Please contact the salon should you wish to book your place! 💫
