This is a great way to enhance and compliment 1:1 hypnotherapy sessions and/or to have as a stand alone tool in your self-care toolkit, which can easily be worked on in your own time and in the comfort of your own home! ✨🎧✨

Today’s audio recording is for a very special client who is very apprehensive about her up coming MRI scan. She suffers massively with claustrophobia, however approaching this issue purely from a claustrophobic perspective was not going to be specific enough.

So, over the last few weeks we have been working together during our 1:1 sessions to specifically reframe her fear of the MRI scan, allowing her to have a totally different slant on dealing with this problem, so she can feel totally calm and relaxed about her forthcoming procedure! 🥰

Giving away your power is something we all do from time to time...

Maybe you let your friend or colleague’s bad mood ruin your day. Or perhaps you let someone's criticism of you damage your self-image.

Sometimes it’s really obvious when we give up our power - when we suddenly lose our sh*t and then perhaps say or do something we later regret… 🤦🏻‍♀️

It’s also possible to give up our power in other, more subtle, ways without us realising it… do any of these things sound familiar?

🙇🏻‍♀️ You give in to guilt trips
🙇🏻‍♀️ You allow someone else’s opinion of you to dictate your self-worth
🙇🏻‍♀️ You don’t establish healthy boundaries
🙇🏻‍♀️ You complain about all the things you “HAVE” to do
🙇🏻‍♀️ You hold grudges
🙇🏻‍♀️ You change your goals because you were rejected

#6 The Subconscious Mind is present-based 👇🏼

When we dream about the future or get nostalgic about the past, it is the conscious mind that’s at work. The conscious mind thinks in terms of past and future, rather than the present. Our subconscious mind is constantly focused on the present moment. This is why it’s so important to be mindful of your inner thoughts such as; “I am successful” rather than “I will be successful”. So be more present folks, it actually really makes all the difference! 🧘🏻‍♀️

#7 The Subconscious mind is like a computer processor 💻

The subconscious mind is far more powerful than the conscious mind and can process huge quantities of information that come via your five senses and translate them back to your brain in the blink of an eye. Amazing?! 🤩

#8 The Subconscious Mind is primal 🥇

Our subconscious mind communicates in images, feelings and metaphors focusing on emotion rather than logic or reason. Hence why story telling and visualisation is so powerful when it comes to facilitating lasting change. Everyone loves a great story, right?! 📖

#9 The Subconscious mind is a multi-tasker 

Although many of us think we can multi-task, the truth is that it’s quite impossible to be consciously focused on two things at once. We are never able to give simultaneous attention to two things at once. For example, it’s physically impossible to feel happy and sad at the same time or angry and calm. Our subconscious however, is a born multi-tasker. This is truly mind blowing stuff right here?! 🤯

So here are the first 5 things you may not have known about your subconscious mind… 🧠

#1 The Subconscious Mind dreams 💭

Dreams are purely physiological and represent the brain’s attempt at making sense of random thoughts and images from recent daytime experiences, thoughts or memories.

#2 The Subconscious Mind controls 95% of your life 🕹

Yep, that’s right?! This means that the majority of the decisions we make, the actions we take, our emotions and behaviours, depend on the 95% of brain activity that lies beyond conscious awareness! Amazing?!

#3 The Subconscious Mind is always awake 👀

Your subconscious mind never sleeps, rests or takes a break because it controls all vital processes and functions of the body.

#4 The Subconscious Mind is habit-based 🤓

As we go about our daily routine such as waking up, travelling to and from work, eating, drinking and going to sleep it becomes second nature, we’ve formed habits, and so the unconscious mind does most of the work of our daily activities without us even realising it.

#5 The Subconscious Mind takes everything literally 👂🏼

It does not differentiate between negative and positive. So if you continually tell yourself that you’ll never succeed in something, then it’s likely to turn out that way. The subconscious mind is subjective. It doesn’t think or reason independently, it simply obeys the commands it receives from your conscious mind. Hence why it’s so important how we speak to ourselves!

In these difficult times, it is important that we all look after our mental health and well-being and that means taking some time to relax and get in touch with our inner self, and find a place where we can unwind and let go of any stress or negativity, anxious thoughts and 'just be'.

Stress is one of the major contributors to modern ailments and affects most of us at some stage in our lives.

Dealing with stress should be relatively easy; after all, many of us are already aware of what is causing it, e.g. a hectic lifestyle, work and/or family issues, information overload, facing challenging situations, the rising cost of living and so on. However, it is rarely easy for us to manage our own stress levels as we continue doing the things we have always done.

Taking some time out to just relax can be hugely beneficial. This month we will be using an enjoyable visualisation exercise that you can take away and use in your own spare time, helping you to feel more relaxed and confident throughout your usual everyday activities.

These wonderfully enjoyable group hypnosis sessions help you to relax your body and your mind, allowing you to release any tension or stress you are feeling. Taking you away to a place of complete bliss and tranquility - now who doesn’t need that after the last couple of years?!

Each month we then focus on a new theme or visualisation, and this month we are working on releasing guilt. Guilt underpins so much of our daily lives and can negatively impact both our home and work life, profoundly affecting how we think and feel about ourselves and the world around us.

#6: In the state of hypnosis, you will reveal dark, deep secrets

Truth: During the state of hypnosis you are in total control of your mind, just like you are when you are out of it. This means you will not expect to reveal any private information without your prior consent.

#7: During hypnosis I will lose all sense of my surroundings and I won't remember anything the hypnotherapist says

Truth: Hypnosis does not mean going through a state of amnesia. Hypnosis is not sleep at all, it does not mean that you are unconscious. Instead, you are highly focused and very relaxed.

#8: I can't be hypnotised because my mind is too strong/disciplined and I am too intelligent.

Truth: If you have the ability to relax and go to sleep, then you can be hypnotised. And actually the more intelligent you are, the easier it is generally to follow instructions and be able to visualise and imagine everything the hypnotherapist is asking you to.

#9: Hypnosis is a so-called “Miracle Cure”.

Truth: While Hypnosis is a relatively fast method of making permanent improvements, there is no such thing as a one-time “Hypno-Miracle”! Every individual makes progress at his or her own rate. Hypnotherapy is a process that you work through, together with your Hypnotherapist, that is individually tailored to you based on your unique needs.

#9: Hypnotherapy isn't an effective therapy

Truth: A comparison study shows:

Psychoanalysis: 38% recovery after 600 sessions.
Behaviour Therapy: 72% recovery after 22 sessions.
Hypnotherapy: 93% recovery after 6 sessions.

So let’s go!!…😃👉🏼💪🏼👊🏼🙌🏼

#1: Hypnosis is "mind control" and the hypnotherapist will control you

Truth: When a hypnotherapist works with you, they are a guide. Guiding you through a process of relaxation so your subconscious mind can come to the fore and is able to make the positive changes you have agreed together prior to the session.

#2: I will be made to do silly and embarrassing things - like cluck like a chicken!

Truth: This assumption is often based on stage hypnosis, which volunteers have willingly allowed themselves to take part in silly suggestions, that is designed for pure entertainment. Hypnotherapy is a positive and meaningful process of self-improvement, which is ALWAYS designed to be beneficial and empowering.

#3: Hypnosis is supernatural or in some way related to dark magic or the devil

Truth: Hypnosis is a complete natural state that has been around far longer than we have known, it has also been studied scientifically. Hypnotherapists are not Mystics or Psychics with any special magical powers. Hypnotherapy is based on years of clinical research by famous psychologists such as Freud, Jung and more recently Erikson ad Kappas.

#4: Hypnosis is dangerous and you can get stuck in hypnosis

Truth: Some people would love to stay in that wonderful state of relaxation, but no one has got stuck yet! The truth is, if a client is enjoying the experience they might find themselves taking a little longer to come back to full conscious awareness.

#5: I have never experienced hypnosis before

Truth: Actually, you have! In fact, we all have. Have you ever been so entranced with a book or film you don’t hear someone call your name? Or have driven somewhere, but don’t remember the route? These all involve hypnotic statues, which means hypnosis is just a natural extension of everyday awareness.

It’s me… 👋🏼 with new hair!! 🙌🏼💇🏻‍♀️

For those of you who have been following me for a while now, you may have noticed that I’ve been “off grid” for what seems like such a loooong time…?!

So, I just wanted to take this opportunity to say hi, and to let you know that I’m still here… 👋🏼 AND although I may have been silent on the squares and the book for a while, I have still been very busy behind the scenes helping clients manage and overcome such a variety of different issues; devising bespoke treatment plans, introducing empowering and life changing eating programmes, delivering confidence boosting and self esteem sessions, creating conquering anxiety and fears programmes and so much more… 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼

Over the coming weeks I would like to share with you some of the amazing transformations I have had the privilege to be a part of… and allow you to see first hand, through the words of my clients themselves, how hypnotherapy has changed their lives for the absolute better!!!…💪🏼🙌🏼

Hypnotherapy, whilst becoming more popular and accepted these days, still has a way to go when it comes to dispelling some of those pesky “hocus-pocus-woowoo-you are feeling sleepy” myths that still get banded about… ⏱😵‍💫🐓🙄

Perhaps you are already a fully paid up member and loyal subscriber? Or maybe you don’t feel cool enough, popular enough, or dare I say it, good enough to join?

So often loving ourselves can be viewed as a negative thing that makes us come across as egotistical or self-centered, but the truth is it’s anything but this.

Self-love, at its very core, is a true understanding and acceptance of who we are. Self-love doesn’t mean we’re boastful or self-important, but rather it means we show ourselves compassion and accept who we are at every stage of life.

The truth is, we are all flawed in our own ways, but with self-love, we are much better equipped to deal with the highs and lows of everyday life knowing that we are ALWAYS worthy of important life-affirming things like love, happiness, and peace.

Self-love looks and feels different for everyone, and understanding what you actually “need” rather what you think you “want” takes time and real care to work out.

Whoever we are, whatever our background, wherever we’ve come from and wherever we are going… mental health is our ultimate driving force, our compass, and is so pivotal to how we see ourselves and the world around us.

The official theme for this year’s event is ‘Mental Health in an Unequal World’, as set by the World Federation for Mental Health.

Access to mental health support when we need it is so important, yet sadly there are so many people around the world who just don’t have the same freedoms or the opportunities to receive it.

Mental health is such a fundamental part to who we are as individuals. It’s the way we think and feel and our ability to deal with ups and downs.

Mental health is something we all have. When we have good mental health, we enjoy a sense of purpose and direction, the energy and motivation to do the things we want to do, and the ability to deal with the challenges that happen in our everyday lives. 

When we think about our physical health, we know what to do to keep ourselves fit, and where to go to get the appropriate medical attention we need in order to get better. Mental health is just the same.

Don’t be afraid to reach out to someone you trust for support and guidance if you are feeling overwhelmed or unable to cope.

Mental health really is mental wealth… so let’s focus more on positive strategies and things we can do to learn about ourselves and each other better, and find more efficient and effective ways to maintain our Mental Wellbeing TOGETHER…
