Menopause can be hard enough without alcohol making it harder.
Small changes, like swapping an evening drink for something else relaxing, can help ease symptoms and boost energy.

Black History Month is a reminder to look honestly at how drug stigma and racism overlap in the UK. Drug use exists across every community. But the way we police it doesn’t impact people equally, in the year to March 2023 there were 24.5 stop-and-searches per 1,000 Black people vs 5.9 per 1,000 White people in England & Wales. That disparity isn’t a measure of “who uses more”, it’s about enforcement practices and where power is applied.

UK prevalence data reminds us that drug use isn’t confined to one group, it cuts across ethnicities and genders, so racialised ideas of “what a drug user looks like” are both wrong and harmful❌

Many advocates argue we need health-led approaches and fairer laws that reduce harm, address racial disproportionality in enforcement, and remove barriers to support. That includes centring lived experience, improving access to culturally safe services, and challenging language that dehumanises people who use drugs.

This month, and all year, we choose care over judgement. If you or someone you love wants information or support, you deserve it without stigma or fear of being stereotyped. We see you💛

Our team and peer mentors marked the end of Recovery Month with a Pen-y-Ghent trek, carrying our recovery banner as a symbol of hope and progress💜

And while Recovery Month has come to an end, we’ll keep celebrating recovery every day of the year, in every conversation, every milestone, and every act of support that brings people together!

💛 As Recovery Month comes to a close, we’re proud to spotlight our peer mentor, Nathan.

Nathan has been a steady presence in our service- running groups, standing up as a true advocate for recovery, and working with Riverside Housing to make sure people are supported in the best way possible.

He takes recovery beyond our walls too, using TikTok to connect with those who are struggling and to share knowledge and hope.

Thank you Nathan, for the difference you make!👏

A huge congratulations to everyone who took part- your energy, teamwork, and spirit were incredible.

Massive thanks to RDaSH NHS community and all involved in organising such a powerful event that brings together people in recovery, their families, and the wider community to celebrate, connect, and break stigma.💜

Michelle has been part of our service for years, first as a peer mentor and now as a volunteer. She supports our groups for service users online, encourages people living with anxiety, and reminds us that recovery is not just about individual journeys, but about the strength we find in each other through sharing and listening.

She’s also an incredible artist, painting with the same heart and creativity she brings to everything she does.

Thank you, Michelle! You are deeply loved and appreciated by everyone around you💛

Every conversation, no matter how small, can be a lifeline.

By creating space for openness and compassion, we help build a society where no one feels they have to struggle in silence. Substance use and mental health often intersect in deeply personal ways, recognising this helps us support people more fully.

Together, we can prioritise su***de prevention and ensure everyone gets the help they need. 💛
