Work by Tassia and Mhairi being presented and discussed in Birmingham today

Today we are launching an important report on clinical trials at the UK Interdisciplinary Breast Cancer Symposium in Birmingham.

"A Little Bit Written Off" describes the experiences of people living with secondary breast cancer as they explore clinical trials as part of their treatment pathway.

The report, designed and illustrated by patient advocates Mhairi Campbell and Tassia Haines, highlights the misconceptions and lack of information surrounding clinical trials available to patients.

It's Breast Cancer Awareness Month and love it or loathe it, BCAM will be flooding social media, shops and our TVs. This long-standing global diary date means different things to different people. But one thing is for sure, Metastatic Breast Cancer awareness is every day this month as We Are Breast Cancer. Not a secret group in the corner to be hidden away. No one knows who is going to fall into the ~30% of primary patients who go on to become incurable with MBC so we aren't going to stay quiet until our one date on 13th October. Join us for some of the MBC stories of the nine women from the Darker Pink campaign who have died since 2021 with Disappearing Lives this month.

CHANGE CAN HAPPEN WHEN WE WORK TOGETHER.

We are so excited to be able to invite Metastatic Breast Cancer patients in Wales to an exciting and empowering event hosted by members of METUP UK (Wales) and Macmillan.

This event will be a celebration of the incredible efforts of (supported by and ) and will acknowledge the success to date, following the petition that hundreds of you signed back in 2022 to push for dedicated MBC nurses in every single health board and trust in Wales, raise awareness around the red flag symptoms, tackle the inequality in access to treatment, and aim for consistent and accurate data collection around MBC.

This will be a no cost event, allowing us an opportunity to learn, celebrate, share and support.

We would love you to join us at The Pierhead, Cardiff Bay on Wednesday the 19th September between 12 and 1.30pm

Refreshments will be available.
Transport can be provided from certain corners of Wales.
Plus an informal after event catch-up for those who want to join us at the Cosy Club.

Please scan the barcode or follow the link in bio, to take you to our Eventbrite registration page.

For any queries or issues with registration please contact Sue
or sue.thomas@metupuk.org.uk

Massive congratulations to abcd - After Breast Cancer Diagnosis and METUP UK founder Jo Taylor and the team she worked with for this award. Jo is a tireless voice for MBC patients around the UK. Her efforts have made a huge difference to the way the disease is seen and spoken about at decision-making levels. The ABCD infographics are helping to educate patients and medical professionals around the world about the signs of secondary breast cancer

Reposted from Metastatic breast cancer is a true crime. One that kills 31 women every day. And it gets away with it.

We hope you've spotted our amazing advert out in the world today as it aired across the UK during your favourite TV shows today, but just in case you haven't been glued to your box, here it is.......

We're so honoured to say is the voice of our advert. And we need to also give a huge thanks to the teams and for making this a reality.
