📚🗓 GCSE Results Day Anyone? Know anyone getting grades today? ⬇️

GCSE results day brings with it very mixed feelings, reactions, and interpretations. What do the young people think and feel? What do the teachers think and feel? What do the parents think and feel? For too many young people it can feel like the day that will define their whole future and being, and of course it has the potential to open doors and unlock fast tracks – we get this.

However, that said, we also just wanted to remind young people and parents alike (and any anxious nail biting teachers) that academic grades, although helpful at times, do not;
1️⃣ define people for who they are or who they will become,
2️⃣ categorise people into life long boxes of ‘the achievers’ and ‘the drop outs’,
3️⃣ make people better or worse than others,
4️⃣ take away those talents that cannot be manufactured into a school subject,
5️⃣ outweigh amazing qualities that make people who they are,
6️⃣ stop people from living a life others could only dream of.

Have a quick Google of those that left school with no GCSE’s (or equivalent), you may be surprised…!
So to all those young people encountering their grades today, you’re fabulous and uniquely amazing whatever your results ⭐️

Son and Daughter day brings what some people might think of as a fun reminder that allows them to celebrate the greatness of their children, but we know that it isn’t that straightforward for a lot of people, and this day could throw all sorts of different things at you.

For some, such a day will be a lovely bonus to their week, where they might be able to do something fun and special with their son or daughter whatever their age.
For others, the day will come and go with no particular change in what they do, because they’ve got stuff going on, they’re busy, or they hadn’t even realised this was even a thing!
Some will be separated from their children and will be desperately missing their son or daughter, whatever their age and for various reasons.
Some might be wondering how they ever got in a position where they no longer speak with their son or daughter.
Others will meet the day with intense sorrow after the loss of a son or daughter.
For some, they might think about their own parents, we are of course all someone’s son or daughter after all.
For others they will be longing to celebrate such a day in future whilst they patiently and painfully wait to become a parent.

Whatever you do or feel on this day, whether it’s a positive thing or something that brings despair, we hope you can make the day work for you. For those with their son or daughter, give them an extra squeeze today and lose yourself in their awesomeness.

For those without their son or daughter today, we hear your pain, it’s real and raw, and we hold your hand tightly today.
