I'm sure most of you will now be aware of the extraordinary news that NHS England is planning to end funding to a further 3 hyperbaric units leaving only 3 operational (all in the South of England).
This is potentially disastrous for any divers suffering from diving related injury in the North of the country. Though many casualties will arrive at a chamber by air or ambulance, the more mild cases may present by car, themselves, to be assessed (not all require tereatment). A drive of 8+ hours would be somewhat off-putting to these individuals and availability of coastguard / ambulance resources may severe impact those who are at significant risk...
Support from local divers thus far has been overwhelming but please consider writing to your MP to express your concern about this dangerous decision by NHSE.
