Meet Holly 💫

Holly has recently lost an incredible 10 stone such an amazing achievement, but with that came significant volume loss in her face, which was really affecting her confidence.

There’s been a lot of conversation lately around the divide between medics and non-medics in aesthetics, and I think it’s an important one to talk about openly.

As a non-medic practitioner, I’m very aware of both the opportunities and the responsibilities that come with working in this industry. Aesthetics has evolved hugely, and with that comes different backgrounds, skill sets, and perspectives.

For me, it’s always been about:

• Ongoing education
• Working within my scope of practice
• Putting client safety first

I also think collaboration and mutual respect are key. There’s room for different professionals in this space, but standards, ethics, and accountability should apply to everyone.

I’d genuinely love to hear your thoughts on this, whether you’re a medic, non-medic, or even a client.

A real moment from clinic today and an important reminder why safety always comes first.

While treating a client with cheek filler, I performed an aspiration check before injecting… and saw a positive aspiration (blood entering the needle on pullback). This indicates the needle may be in or near a blood vessel so I immediately stopped.

No filler was placed in that area, and we adjusted technique to continue safely.

This is exactly why I take my time, use safe techniques, and never rush treatments.

Complications in aesthetics are rare, but only when practitioners are trained to recognise warning signs and act quickly.

Your safety > everything.

If you’re choosing an injector, make sure they:

✔️ Understand facial anatomy
✔️ Aspirate where appropriate
✔️ Know when NOT to inject

Beautiful results should never come at the cost of your safety.
